  • Any good hiking books?

Not looking for trail guides but books about hiking experiences, along the lines of "Walk in the Woods". Prefer New York/Northeast but open to any suggestions. Starting a hiking program within my son's Boy Scout troop and looking for inspiration...

Those too! Esp. thoughts on choice of equipment for different seasons, conditions, terrain, etc. Another project I'm working on for Scouts...

I absolutely love my Asolo GTX hiking boots. I have to replace them, and the thought of it makes me cry since they're going for ~$240 these days. Best hiking boots I've ever owned (because they fit me really well and have held up until I started neglecting them).

For serious hikes stiff soles are the way to go. I bought a pair of Keen low hiking shoes before vacation this year and they seemed to work pretty well.

C, lets walk the way to Santiago. We can do as little as 100Km or over 1000K if you want! lol eat some Jamon and drink some rioja as we see our feet become big loafs of rye bread.
It is a shame when people demanding tolerance, have no tolerance
