Just got back from Moss Lake

Had a good time, didn't flip canoe or having any issues other then finding the campsite to begin with lol. I also found a cast iron pan stuck into fallen tree by water. It's in rough shape but I'm going to try and restore it.

Oh and met a couple who are going to last together ......

They always say go camping or whatever to really test a relationship. Well this couple called at one of the boat access sites.... they had no boat so they hiked in all there gear including cooler! This is far off the loop trail and they told me with two trips it took them 7 hours!

The funny thing is while canoeing back to get my second load of stuff they were shortly behind coming to shore on a inflatable air mattress using large sticks as oars! You cant make this stuff up LMAO.

At the very least, you could have tried to fend off a bear or something with that frying pan.

Both dogs loved it and the big one learned how to swim great while the little actually swam a little on her own which was a big surprise!

Perfect weather except for packing up and getting back to car, it was raining the whole time so I got soaked.

I don't mind getting rained on ever EXCEPT for the last 12 hours of a camping trip. Then you gotta set everything out the dry once you get home to keep it from getting moldy. Yuck. Never fun to have to do that, but always still worth it for the trip. Looks like a beautiful spot you picked Rob.

My wife said she wanted to go camping while we were on vacation. So on a lunch trip to Moss lake we found a really nice camping spot (think it was around #7) that had it's own little beach area. It seemed smaller than the other sites so we figured we would have some privacy. We signed up for the campsite at the trial head and figured we'd come back after dinner. After dinner we got to the trail head and there were like 5 police cars and an ambulance. We pulled into the parking lot and a man (not in uniform) approached our car. He asked what we were doing and I explained we were planning on camping out for the night. His response was something like "Nobody is camping here tonight. There's been an incident."

It sounded enough like the beginning of a bad horror movie that we decided not to go camping at all that week. We found out from the Waldheim staff that apparently two armed men had attacked a woman there. I guess the police were setting up road blocks all over the place to try to catch the guys.

My wife has never asked to go camping again.

That's a one time thing, it's very rare for your there. It's still a great place to camp, also Stillwater Reservoir has good sites and so do moose river plains.

That's probably the story. For some reason the fact that it has already been 5 years makes me feel like an old fart.
