That sounds a lot more enjoyable than what I tried to do the last time I rented there. It was a workout and I ran out of time before I made it very far.

Give those folks a try, I hear they are good folk. Whatever you do stay away from Oak Orchard those people are scum!!!!!
I recommend staying away from the 10ft yaks those are just toys. If you want to camp out of your kayak I would recommend at least 12 ft.

yeah, they definitely do wiggle more. not a big deal if you are just following the current on the irondequoit creek but a real pain in the ass if you are trying to paddle a few miles.

i'd love a 14.5 with a front and back hatch for trips like that. hopefully some day i can justify that purchase and have time to make those trips happen.

I'd upload some more pictures of Algonquin that would help nudge your decision but I have nothing but trouble uploading pictures to here. Not sure how I got that other pic up. They usually error out on me.

Are they huge file sizes? That might be why

They are just regular photos. It seems to always say that my photos are over 2mb and error.

Because of my back limitations I no longer use my canoe. I've got a 17' Coleman if you're interested.

Where abouts are you? PM pics and price if you get a chance.

I did order the roof rack for my car and a pulley for garage storage

                            Water!

Also, when you get the life preserver, get one made for kayaking.

That is a NICE looking bunch of meat!

I can still find a use for my thumb, even though it no longer has a hole to finger.

I could have been enjoying his nuts.

If you've never been in a kayak before, I highly recommend renting a few times, and trying different sizes each time to see if you even like it. Also look at the cockpit opening. They come in different sizes. The larger openings are a LOT easier to get in and out of, but offer less protection in lousy weather. You can also get spray skirts that "clip" over the lip of the cockpit to keep crud out, but keep in mind that they also keep heat IN.

I've done a week camping trip out of a 16' sea kayak, and I've done the same with a canoe. They're two different animals, for sure.

Bonus: you can fit a full size cooler in a canoe.
Old enough to know better, still too young to care
