  • How do you keep Mosquitos and such away while Outdoor BBQing / Camping

    Ok Gents,

I have an insane amount of mosquitos already today around my property (have some wetlands near by; great do water table bad for bugs). I've tried some citronella candles but some times works sometimes does not.

What do you all use while hanging on your decks or camping? While in the woods I don't mind bug spray with deet but don't want to use that outside whil cooking and then have to come inside smelling like that.

I give them the look, and they abide.

Just kidding, wood fire usually helps. This time of uear, all the winter blow down gets put to good use

Bug zappers and dry ice away from where you are, tiki torches, foggers . clear your gutters and any areas where you have standing water to reduce breeding grounds.

I've never tried any of the tricks to get rid of them. Since they're attracted to CO2, a couple of the tricks that I've heard (though not tested) are dry ice, like USMC mentioned, and taking a pop bottle, cutting the top off, adding yeast and warm water (CO2 source), and putting the top back on, inverted into the bottle to act as a trap.

Put some pesticides on the charcoal, the fumes will kill them, interesting tasting burgers too!

*This is a joke. DO NOT TRY THIS!*
Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

I will continue to flash cops

I use Tiki torches with citronella fuel. Adds great accent lighting and keeps the little bastards away

i try to spray the lawn with that pesticide you put on your hose every two weeks or so when they are bad. it does help a lot, though it doesn't solve it entirely i find it more than worth the effort.

also, you could put in some bat houses!

Bat houses and tiki torches may actually be the way to go. I do have a few bats around but adding some Bernie Sanders style housing may do the trick.

nicotine or overload of vitamin D for a few days. Urine and sweat will stink though so great for the jungle but nor for a romantic camping get away.
