Now that we have moved and have some property to play on, I built my first lean-to shelter in the woods and had myself a little fire yesterday morning.

I wanted to get my 8 year old outside, so I asked if he would help me build a fort. After 20 minutes, he decided he wanted to build his own, so he started on a birds nest kind of thing. Pretty cool really to see him focused on a task for a couple hours.

My lean-to wouldn't cut it in this weather, but I'm going to do a tarp setup this weekend in the same spot with a long fire and spend the night outside.

Cool, lean-to shelters can be fun. Good luck on your upcoming outing. I'll be doing some myself this weekend. Heading up to hang with the Canadians over the weekend. Nothing like sleeping in a hammock, working on bushcraft skills and consuming large quantities of scotch! Wohooo Buddy!!!!!!!!!
