What type of stuff do you bring camping? Don't care if its backpacking or car camping or what. Just curious what everyone brings.

Anyone bring stuff they think everyone should bring?

For me everyone who camps and is not with family should have a hammock to camp in because of the comfort.

    Beer
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

    I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

To get back on topic: always bring something to sit on and a table is a must have (if you have the room)

tent/hammock, sleeping bag appropriate for the weather, 1 8 inch Griswold fry pan, aluminum foil, coffee pot and cup, paper plates, cooler, food box. Limit anything that generates trash and can be burned (not plastic or Styrofoam). Pre-freeze meals one or more days out, helps the cooler ice last longer. One pan will cook everything you need, foil does other duty as well, buy the heavy stuff, burn it as well but take it out of the fireplace when you leave. The less food smell you leave around the less undesirable critters you'll have around. Geisha girl if the wife encourages it, one on either side of you in the sleeping bag keeps you warm and toasty.
I must say I love beavers.

Back from the dead!!!!! Both me and this thread!!!! .... haven't been doing much car camping but when we did ... well not much limit on what you can bring . As far as camping.... back country camping - Its been hammock all year ( first year entirely in a hammock ) and after finding how I like my hang to be ... they have been some of the best nights of sleep I have had. Sleeping bag when called for this year has been a North Face Wasatch 30 ( cheap and I need to find a comfy one) - I'm not much for mummy bags ... this has a slightly larger foot box and it is easy to regulate temps with the zippers so it is ok - just ok ... damn good for the price... but I'm still lookin' for one thats better for me . I made a pad out of Reflectix not for the padding but as a convection heat loss barrier and also - well it reflects heat back .throw it in the pad sleeve in my hammock and you can fell your body heat radiate back up to you.For 25$ I made 3 six foot pads and some pot cozys and crap. It works...its definitely worth the 25$.
Backpacks?.... Well after several years and tons of money I finally found the one that suits me right ... Granite Gear Leopard AC 58 - pretty cheap ( Like $250 ) and its just 3 pounds ( after a bit of strap trimming) . Backpacks are like shoes - either they feel right or they don't - and if there is a little thing that bugs you about a pack.... after 8+ hours on your back its no longer a little thing.
I have had packs from Gregory , Dueter , Kelty ... you name it - I finally found mine in the Granite Gear - on a side note - The Kelty packs I had were pretty bullet proof and still have 2 of them .. a coyote 80 and a redwing 50 both great packs - a little heavy but tanks BTW a redwing 50 would be a sweet BOB - and they can be had now for less than 100$.
Cook kit - varies depending if I am going solo or what my meal plans are - The Jetboil flash is quick, easy, and relatively small/light if your primary cooking will be boiling water to re hydrate food or make coffee ( water for coffee in the blink of an eye I might add ) ... but its sort of a one trick pony without a pot adapter to use other cookware than jetboil products.
MSR micro rocket or pocket rocket - good no frills canister stoves that let you use whatever cookware you may have ( within reason ) .
Cookware - MSR Alpine 2 pot set good when there is more than just me or for a bigger spread ... Most of my cooking crap will pack inside .. stove and canister plus spices salt olive oil etc. can also carry just one pot of the set. good solid construction - not super lightweight but not super expensive either.
MSR Alpine Stowaway pot In the 1.1 Liter size ... same deal as the other all my crap fits inside minus the canister though. Both the MSR sets are good to go for use over a fire also which is my cooking method of choice when it is an option .
Water filtration - MSR Mini Works EX - price was right - filters everything that might do you harm-is field serviceable ( big selling point for me ) - size and weight are not what I would call ultra light but man the water comes out sweet and clean.
Sawyer products - I have a few of those bottles with the sawyer filters in them in my BOBs ... and I carry a Sawyer squeeze filter in my pack sometimes instead of the Mini Works - Its super small and weighs next to nothing. Water source makes the call on the filter of choice ... when we were in glacier national park the mini works needed to be cleaned all the time ... sometimes a couple of times per fill stop. I notice something similar in the Adirondacks - the ceramic element just gets a good scrub and its good to go - not sure if back flushing the sawyer would work - next time I'll take both and see.
There are all the odds and ends that I bring... very small bottle of soap ( Bronners I think ). toothpaste , wipes , misc crap-There is a lot of small and travel size junk here http://www.minimus.biz/ and you don not need to purchase an entire box of crap - you can get just one..
Extra socks - hahaha I think I bring to many extra socks but I like to have happy feet.
