    Which one?

Hennessey Expedition or Warbonnet Blackbird or am I missing others? Double bottom for insulation and pad? Plan on three season use. Some of you guys have been discussing them so figured I'd pick your brains.

I have henessy expedition deluxe I think. I have it with hex fly. Can't go wrong with either. Is money a big deal? I ask because you might want double bottom if your not going to get an underquilt for example.

If you could say more about how you want to use it and requirements you need to meet it might help narrow down best choice for you.

seriously considering the double bottom with a bubble pad at least, gets chilly in the Adirondacks during the spring back water fishing before bugs come out, summer and Fall for black powder season and early big game season. I still have my military sleep system bag and or my poncho liner and a couple wool blankets that I considered different layering possibilities underneath. Want to purchase a good hammock one time with a slightly oversize rain fly that would be light weight for summer hiking and overnight motorcycle rides, and the colder weather pads wouldn't need to be as lightweight as we wouldn't be more than a couple miles off road hunting or fishing and looking to possibly save some money on those items by using what I have or by recommendations of experienced users.

I highly recommend the Warbonnet Blackbird XLC!!! I has a foot box and a side shelf that others don't have. They also have a tarp called the Superfly. It's the most popular tarp on hammockforums.net and for good reasons. If you haven't gone to hammockforums.net check it out. It's a plethora of info! The Superfly has doors so when the weather gets real bad you can close them up and be safe and sound.
Also the double layer is not only got for slipping a pad into it's also good for mosquitoes! Those little buggers can bite through single layer hammocks but can't get through the double layer.

Hammocks are so comfy and there one draw back is insulation needs since your exposed in every direction. A good pad would be needed. I got a top and underquilt and while expensive up front they are worth it for warmth, compression and weight. Always nice to have some extra tarp size too in case it's raining so your not just stuck in hammock.

Looks like I'm leaning towards the Blackbird, going to check out that site and do some more reading. Thanks everyone, keep the suggestions coming.

Alrighty, any suggestions on a lower priced solution for an underquilt??? Not trying to be cheap, but damn. I currently use a self inflating Thermarest and read suggestions of airing it down, maybe a trimmed down wool blanket on top of the Thremarest to help insulate the shoulders as well?? Remember, I'm only going 5-7 miles round trip at this point hunting/fishing or on motorcycle.

If your not looking to spend money on a down quilt, check out Arrowhead equipment. They have synthetic quilts (kick Ass Quilts). Good quality. If those are to much just use a foam pad for insulation.

How about a hammock within a tent?

Is that a tent or a hunting blind? LOL.

You can also set up the Superfly low and tight like a tent. Not nearly as warm as the Smokehouse II.
Here's a shot from my coldest outing so far. Last January up in Canada. Got down to -27*F
