  • How many and what kind of First Aid Kits?

I was just curious what you all have as far as first aid kits. Do you just have one at home? Do you also have one in car? Do you have one you carry on your person? Separate one for camping / hiking?

What type do you have for the different ones? Are they just general boo boo ones or trauma ones?

Just trying to get an idea what others are doing and trying to figure out what I want to do.

Also as a bonus question...... for those of you that leave one in your car is there anything special you do to protect it from extreme heat or cold?

I have just one as well http://stores.amp-3.net/amp-3-outfit...ld-separately/ . I added a lot of burn gel to mine (I burn myself a lot lol!) . Its small and easy enough to carry around and can cover pretty much anything but I am thinking I probably want at least another one dedicated to leave in my car.

My current one I leave at home and bring it with me camping or other trips and what not but other then that I am unprepared when I am out different places.

Got one of these for the car (added a tournaquet): http://www.amazon.com/Tactical-Traum.../dp/B0089GWUZA

The range bag has a trauma kit I assembled that includes an Israeli bandage, quick clot, and tournaquet.
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

        I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

Hard to tell from photo but if you get a chance can you tell me what comes with it? I really like the idea of a nice small pouch for the car.

ETA: Actually found it on Ebay as well http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tactical-Tra...p2054897.l4275 . Costs 5 cents more but saves nearly $5 on shipping. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I think I will be snagging one and a tourniquet as well. I think I might add some extra gloves and band aids but it looks like a great well rounded kit.

Well my medical kits aren't really first-aid kits, but they're designed for long term medical support for a small group. I've housed them in a couple of large water resistant plastic ammo boxes. I've added all the typical quick clot bandages, gauze, pads, tourniquets etc. I've included items like a sphygometer, stethoscope, otoscope, dental extraction tools, antibiotics, and various creams. We've also included some herbs as well, as my wife studied herbal medicine in school. I've assembled a small reference library which includes titles such as: Medicine for Mountaineering, U.S. Army Special Forces Medical Handbook, Ditch Medicine, Emergency War Surgery, Folk Medicine, Professional's Handbook of Complementary & Alternative Medicines, The Merck Veterinary Manual, Textbook of Materia Medica Pharmacology and Therapeutics. That's just some of my medical texts, I have additional ones that focus on child delivery methods, pharmaceuticals, and Veterinary Science books. I'm hoping that I'll have a medical person to use these texts, if there is a need.
For the daily type first aid kit, I use one that is in a pelican case and it was designed for rafting trips. I also carry a waterproofed first aid kit in my BOB.

You might want to think about a separate first-aid kit for your pets too. It's pretty scary when your dog gets shot while standing next to you, BTDT. It would be a good idea to include items such as muzzle (when you're cleaning and repairing a wound), and one of those stupid lampshade collars that stop dogs (and cats) from licking wounds or tearing out stitches.

Another source for medical gear is Chinook Medical Gear at www.chinookmed.com I have no involvement with them, except that I'm a satisfied customer, and they offer a wide array of medical kits.

Found this item that looks pretty interesting http://www.ebay.com/itm/INSTANT-HEAT...item51c72baf42 . Basically its a heating blanket that activates when exposed to air and gets to roughly 100 degrees for 6 to 8 hours, could be great for shock or hypothermia. Maybe something to throw in back of snowmobile or leave at a winter cabin.
