I was talking with theCelt this morning and figured this would be a good time to talk about having to change up what, where, and how you carry when injured or recovering from an injury.
I usually carry my G23, XDs in 45acp, or Sig P229. I own many others however these are my typical CCW besides my LCR in 38spc.
I had my knee operated on in March and after a long hard life of treating my body like an amusement park, I realized I may not be able to "operate brah" (as Wildman would put it) in the manner I'm accustomed to.
The knee, at first, wouldn't be too bad. I practiced dropping my right crutch, leaning on the left and drawing, leaning against a wall and drawing, etc. taking cover was more difficult then anything. Another obstacle was my shirt or hoody riding up while crutching around. No bueno. So, I ended up utilizing the tuck feature of my N82 holster and used an over shirt, it solved the problem.
Now on to the appendix or lack there of as of 36 hours ago. Usually carrying iwb on right side is now impossible. Between the incision and overall stomach discomfort, jeans with a belt are out of the question for the next few days, week at most. Well, I've been wondering around with my P229 with the 9mm upper on it instead of the 40sw it came with, carried OWB around the house with a long vest on and or baggy hoody. It's ok but weight is still uncomfortable. So, today I'm going with pocket remora holster and my LCR. It's light and easily concealable. See how that goes today.
