Break in stories?

Curious if anyone has any..... Twice today there has been a noise by side door that sounded like someone trying to get in . once during day and once a few minutes ago. Both times no one there when checked on.

Trying to figure out if this is something I should worry about or chaulk up to something harmless.

Anyone here ever been broken into and noticed strange things beforehand ?

House settling? AC kicking on and plenum or duct work noise? Cgrutt could be on to something, critters in the wall.
A couple years ago I was running a trap line ( mouse traps) and the traps were disappearing, a weasel found his way in and out and was taking advantage of a few free meals. Since we insulated and sealed up the house, no more noises.

Sounded like the storm door closing as if someone opened it and let go. It was pretty loud and didn't leave me wondering if it was the TV or not, oh well will see if it continues.... Maybe I'll put up pro gun sign in yard lol

Amazing what 20mph wind gusts will do to an unlatched screen door

It was windy last night but not enough to open it and it wasn't windy earlier in the day, I was thinking that might be it.

Who knows maybe it was neighbor making noise .

are you closer to neighbors now than how you've lived in the past? when i moved into the city i had a hard time getting used to the neighbors door, it always sounded like someone was at my side door but it was them next door.

the screen door could also not be latching 100% when you close it, then over time it settles then latches later or something like that.
or it could be a stray cat that the old owners used to feed or something. who the hell knows. stay careful my friend. i recommend motion lights at least..

Could be someone testing your security. Happened to us, dogs got them.

I lived in apartment before so previous door was closed. Haven't heard it since, not sure if it had anything to do with me opening door with pistol and then backyard as well lol.

Could of been neighbor car door being slammed too, he rarely comes out of house and sometimes has people come visit.

Shared an apartment with my brother many years ago when we were single, brother locked himself out of the apartment and had to break a window to get in. Went on vacation after and "hired" a friend that he worked with to fix it without telling me about the broken window or it's fixing. As I am getting ready for work I hear glass breaking from my brothers room, I go outside and see a stranger breaking (working) on window. After confronted and story verified his heart rate and blood pressure returned to normal, LOL. Brothers co-worker was irate at my brother for quite sometime.

Seriously, setup your IP Webcam up ASAP in a position to monitor your entrance to the house.

Second, build two brackets on each side of the frame of the door, with circles cut out in the middle of them. Take a steel or aluminum rod and cut it so it crosses the entire door, and through the two brackets on each side of the door frame. Cut two holes on each end so a long shackle padlock can go though and secure the door.

My Dad had this setup on his house in Orleans county for the past 45 years, and nobody ever made it though that door! It's cheap, and it's TOUGH!
