SHTF Barter items?

Curious as to what you all think are good of must have barter items?

The ones I can think of are, liquor, cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, toilet paper and maybe spare batteries especially if rechargeable and you have way to charge them.

tobacco goes stale and I can wipe my butt with a leaf. Ammo is as good as gold unless your trade partner shoots you.

I do gold and junk silver in small 1, 2 5gram incriments fir when our dollar Peshittas out..and the things suggested here already..

Back on-topic though, I think barter items are going to be the items everybody values the most: food, water, fuel, medicine, comfort items, defensive items, etc.

Lol, the main things I think of are addictions, a lot of people will give up a lot for what they need or think they need.

Interesting points though, I assume you probably only want to barter when needed and not set up a barter shop so to speak so you don't make yourself a target.

Alcohol and cigarettes are good ones. Lighters are also high-value trade items.

Medical supplies, especially antibiotics....hmmm birth control items would also be valuable. I do keep some ammo of calibers that I do not use just for trade. Books might be valuable too. A marketable skill, i.e. blacksmith, or veterinarian or be beneficial too.
