Cool! I did a bunch of mylar last winter. Probably hold off on doing more until we move out of city. More than we can carry now for sure.

Btw, I stopped discarding old shoes and clothes. Now, anything that is no wearable gets trashed, and too much stuff will get donated.... but, older shoes and decent clothes are stored for shtf. As LT mentioned, this would be useful for trading.

I will trade anything I dont need and will never need or something rhat can be of use to me but I have too much or I can easily adquire or fabricate. And I can make a lot of things. Also trade skills and labor.
How many have a nice bicycle with a nice carry saddle and attachments? Bikes that can take 350lbs wo budging. I will trade a couple I have extra.
It is a shame when people demanding tolerance, have no tolerance

                  http://www.silverdoctors.com/one-yea...pse-in-bosnia/

SHTF in Bosnia and this guy lived through it for a year. He tells about how he made it through, and the bater economey that sprang up. Alot of this thread seems to be in the right direction, but I would avoid saving your precious metals for SHTF. Economic problems it makes sense for, but withour rule of law and riots? Doesn't seem to be of as much value.

I don't store up anything specific to barter with. I have a decent amount of experience and arms, hopefully i'll go mobile before things explode. If I can't I'll do my best to remove myself from the SHTF scenerio as best as possible. The more distance between my loved ones, me, and centers of population the better. If I absolutely can't get away, I'm at least going to be remote. Pick up a copy of SMCT (Skill level 1) and the Ranger handbook. The two books provide enough information to keep you alive, perhaps in the most primitive fashion... but living is living.

I reload my 300 whisper for some subsonic fun so I had a 300 bk stash of supersonic I would try to barter it all for high power rifle rounds like service rounds.
I think the whisper / blackout would be one of the rifles to shoot with home made black powder and cast bullets in the deepest schit htf.

Actually it would not hurt to have a nice pistol round or whisper or whatever that can take home made black powder and a cast bullet.
I mean as a last possible resource. Here the shotgun is the most versatile of all but a smaller popular caliber for cast or even a 410 will
be a great asset. I would not trade any of those last resource options.
357 even 9mm can be a great black powder last resource to shoot revolver or a lever or a bolt or even single shot.

Do you think something like a circuit judge would work in that type of situation?

Yes it work just fine. 45colt the caliber that won the west. But for a long gun I would look into a lever that can shoot both. Ideally with polygonal rifling. For a revolver pistol the judge or even a peacemaker lol would do the trick.

Never thought about shooting .410 out of a lever gun before.
