  • Living Privacy Fences

Im hoping someone here can help me. I am considering trying to make a living privacy fence in my soon to be new back yard.

It's not a huge back yard and I have researched this a little bit so I will try and list my requirements as best as I know them.
    1. Something that will thrive in zone 6
    2. Something that grows to at least 6 feet tall but not really much more then 10 to 12 feet.
    3. Nothing really thick width wise as it eats into the yard space
    4. Something that does not require a lot of maintenance (I understand this probably means a slower growing plant)
    5. Something that's not very expensive
    6. Something that does not have poisonous berries or anything like that.
    7. Can drop leaves if it has them in winter.

I do already have a small chain link fence if that makes a difference.

    Thoughts, ideas, suggestions greatly appreciated!

                for Jimbo's wisteria --
there are some growers of Arbs down here, but theres a lot of weight moving treez
like a pick up can only handle maybe 7 at a time

I'll send you a pic of what it looks like now, dormit, lol! Previous owners let it get way out of control and I hacked away at a bunch of it last summer. I'm in Dutchess so not quite as far as USMC.

I might just call in pro for consult, no problems doing the work but don't want to screw up the planning of it.

That is a NICE looking bunch of meat!

I can still find a use for my thumb, even though it no longer has a hole to finger.

I could have been enjoying his nuts.

Arborvitae makes great deer salad lol. I've found boxwoods to be more sustainable if you have a deer population.

You may need a couple rows to fill things in nicely. You can also plant them facing the yard or the other way depending on the look your going for.

I bought my sons out of state.
