People call them a couple of things. They are called string stops or string suppressors or string decelerators. If you watch a string on a bow or a crossbow, when released, the string doesn't stop where you see it when it's at rest. It continues forward and then backwards and repeat, repeat, repeat until it stops and is at rest again. This happens in a split second. Adding string decelerators will not only stop that or at the least hamper it, it can actually make a bow or crossbow quieter. Sometimes highly noticeable difference, sometimes very little difference, but the main thing they really tend to do is eliminate some unwanted vibrations. Not that you'll feel enormous amounts of vibrations in a bow or crossbow, but if you feel like maybe there is more than you care for, putting these on will aid in eliminating it.

Watch how a string reacts when released. This is not seen by the naked eye it happens so fast. The string stop in this video is alittle out of adjustment, but you can see it clearly absorbing the force and helping to decelerate the string and bring it to a stop.

What can you tell me about a comparison between the Blackhawk and bushwacker? Is the only real difference speed? What does the extra 20 fps equate too?
I'll have Tim answer this one for you. There are other differences other than speed and power, the stock being one of them. I can always take more pics if you'd like.
