  • What are your "Survival Hacks"

I thought this could be an interesting Topic where I am sure we have some ingenious ideas we could share.

One thing I have done in the past when camping is trying to get weather radio to pull in the NOAA signal. There was a lot of static where I was (really out there) and I had some para cord. All you need to do is tie something with some weight to the para cord and throw it over a higher up branch. Then tie the radio to the para cord and with the radio volume all the way up pull it up into the tree to get a better signal.

Another one for example is lets say you have AAA batteries and your flashlight takes AA. If you have tin foil fold some up so it makes up the difference and place it at one end. Now your light will work with the smaller battery.

Just keep in mind that the AAA won't last as long as a AA.

I actually did that with some halloween decorations this past year. I needed AA's, but only had AAA's. They fit without any modifications, it was just a loose fit.

A quality tarp can work as backpavk, shelter, water cillection, poncho, flotation device, waterprof suit, etc..

When I switched to comcast from fios, I ripped that bigass box off the outside wall and took out the mini lead acid battery inside..made myself a mini generator..

1 watt panel will not charge all that stuff and even if it could it would take forever. A 40 AH lifepo4 battery for instance can hold 512 AH meaning it would take 512 hours of panel at full output to charge it.

I don't have the link anymore..it was just an ebay purchase awhile back. But it does the job if ever needed, power out and need a cell charge or something, hey at least the sun will do it no matter how long it may take, it's a back up to my crank up chargers and stuff..

Actually test it 4ex LTL. Had a 5 watt panel I think and it looked like it was charging his phone but it actually drained it.

I do. I actually keep it upside down on top of lampshade during the day it's sunned and at night my normal 100watt incandescent keeps it rollin which inturn charges and powers the small items tested.

You sure its only a 1 watt panel? I have a 60 watt folding panel which does pretty good charging stuff. Wish I had more power lol.
