  • OK, on to saws now

I want to add a good saw to my BOB. I have a few low end folders (Gerber), but want to add something better.

I'm torn between going with a better folder, like the Bahco Laplander, or adding a folding bow saw like the Sven or similar.

Anyone have any experience with the like?

I picked up a Bahco recently and plan in giving it a workout in the spring.

Damn man, I can't wait till spring! I thrive on immediate gratification!

From what I've seen, the Bahco looks like it would get the job done.

I got interested in the Sawvivor, but think they have gone out of business.

The Outdoor Edge PS100 is a 12" pack saw that only weighs 14 ounces.

I've broken a few Gerbers, have a couple of different ones from Fiskars now. One is a folding pruning saw with a rather large blade (12" I think) that I got for about $5 at Home Depot. It cuts fast, and is lightweight. Keep wanting to build a takedown buck saw, though.

I would just add a wire saw and then for frame you can use a piece of wood. this is super light and can carry several with less bulk and weight.

Hmm, ive got a decent folding saw in my bag as well, i think its a gerber but i cant remember. I also have one of those chainsaw blades with handles that fit in a small bag for bigger stuff. Plus the wife just got me a big ole gerber camping machete with a saw back on it... ill check the make on the folder tomorrow.....

This guy used a small section of small chain saw. I would put a couple of paracord loops to either make good grips or to attach to a piece of wood and use as straight saw.

Also consider a larger knife with a serrated edge. Two or three tools in one.
