Military Surplus Stores?

Just curious if military surplus stores are still around these days? Looks like there are a few in my area but can you still get gear like camping supplies etc or is it mainly just clothing anymore? I remember as a kid they had all kinds of cool stuff but that was many moons ago.

Also, when the heck did woodland camo become a fashion statement? I've seen lots of people wearing various forms of it lately. Some of which you have to wonder if they could even start a fire with matches and gasoline.

Have to wonder how long they will be around though...... Had 2 closer to me and both have closed down although maybe now with the prepper movement they are doing better where they currently are.

There's uncle Sam's by me in Buffalo. They have outlets in Buffalo, NY and Kensington Market in Toronto. They used to have better prices, but now it just doesn't seem to be worth it.

There's a new place in the area called Paratroopers that I haven't been to yet.

Lately, I've found better value in places online that do bigger volume.

Saw U2 in the early 80's at uncle sams. Nobody has a clue who they were back then.

I know the owner and his daughter that runs the place. I think he's got a couple videos on YouTube and he has done consulting on movies for uniforms, vehicles, etc. owner has even done a few segments years ago on the History Channel as "the Duffelbag Man."

They have tons of stuff and know their military history. Sponsor a swing dance every year and one or two militaria shows at the town center in Patterson. Also have done a booth at the dutchess county fair last couple years.

Damn, I was at the fair this year Calculon, how the eff did I miss the booth! I could blame it on the black scorpion sauce I had from the wild coyote booth...that was some hot chit and so was the lady running the booth.
