  • Fire, Disinfectant, and purifying water all done with 2 items!

We all know sometimes it seems like I have way to much time on my hands lol. I mean look at my post count. Well the pay off for you all has finally come! I honestly am so thrilled to have found this and think you all will be too.

I actually saw this video first and was bummed when they didn't reveal more about it. I am all about the free sharing of information so I will tell you all what he used. Basically using a powder and a liquid you can create fire, disinfect wounds, and make safe drinking water

Now the fine print. I can't confirm or deny but I was reading another article that said for this reaction to occur it needs to be 70 degrees or warmer outside. But that is just to create fire and you can still use the stuff for other purposes.

Here is a link to buy the stuff prepacked as well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SURVIVAL-PAC...item259d216b46

Or buy in bulk cheaper and package yourself here http://www.amazon.com/Potassium-Perm.../dp/B00HB8S8WQ there is a combo option below picture for both the potassium and glycerin .

Here are some other links that I found helpful on the stuff as well.

    Some other videos:

So it seems some people get mixed results with the fire starting aspect. Still think I am going to get some to experiment with it because it is multipurpose.

May actually also have to do with how they mixed it! That could explain the different experiences of people http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?t=82784

Glycerine can also be used as lube. So there's that if you get lonely.

Norms works too..and it acts as pain killer, morale builder and blurred brain maker for that last girl on earth part (assuming she aint hot)

although if that JD isn't over 90 proof, no fire either...

I carry glycerin and potassium permanganate in my kit. Very useful.

What kinds of experience do you have with their use?

It's awesome for fire starting. Fun, too. It doesn't take much of either to get burning- I use about a tablespoon or two of the potassium in a small pile with a dip in the middle, and pour on some glycerine. Within about 10 seconds it bubbles, smokes, and ignites. Easy, fast, and nearly foolproof.
It's not my preferred method for water purification or antiseptic, but the fact that it can fill those roles, and works quite well, makes it valuable and versatile.

Have you noticed temperature playing a large role in its fire starting effectiveness and timeliness?
