Prepper Gear Recommendations

I am in process of still building BOB with contents and stuff like that and I am sure there are some of you here as well that are constantly adding and refining as well. My hope for this thread is so share ideas for items that may be beneficial to others who may not have thought about them or knew they even existed.

One thing that many people may not think about is how tough it is to actually suture a wound closed. What I learned taking a system collapse first aid course is that it is so much easier to use the stapler and that you really want to get the staple remover as well.

Prepping or BOB ? .... two very different lists for me .....

Either or. BOB falls under Prepping but like you said different in what you would want to carry. Would be interested in items for bugging in as well.

Stapler is on the list, but I need some training. For EDC and car carry GHB, I have crazy glue with steri-strips for closing slices...for punctures I have tampons (dont say it Doc! I know you want to, but dont do it!) My med kit for EDC is a micro I built for a nylon wallet. My GHB has a bit more, my Car Carry has a bit more since I often have the wife (who has mad MD skills) with me in the car, and I have quick trauma kits all over the place that are only stop the bleeding start the breathing treat for shock until advanced medical personnel arrive. There is one in my car, one in my range bag, one in my GHB, ect. The list of stuff is always changing and evolving and Philosophy of Use comes in to play. One thing that I have it all the bags is a black sharpie. Did you guys see the pic of the guy in paris being carried out on a stretcher with a "2" on his forehead? You can make all kinds of notes on skin with a sharpie.

So is this thread all prepping stuff or just med stuff or GHB's BOB's, EDC lists? I feel like refinement would be important...

I also have been considering some of the TruFlare pen flares for my GHB. My GHB is able to get me home if I have to ditch my car. It will sustain me for a week at least.

I actually specifically brought up tampons at the course I went too. I was told NOT to use them. Reasoning was that they are meant to absorb the blood from a period not form clots to stop the bleeding. So using them will not really help.

ETA: All prepping stuff in general, GHB, BOB, Bug in supplies, anything and everything you think people might have overlooked or not even know about.

I agree with you about using a tampon as a battle dressing as a replacement for gauze, bad idea. However they are designed to plug a hole. Just saying. I have single serving 2g Celox http://www.amazon.com/CELOX-Temporar...keywords=celox and a tampon. Its better than my dirty shirt wrapped around your wound.

Dental stuff like that is in my long term plan. If I'm bugging ot, this not in my first or second layer gear.
