So a couple pairs of keen hikers, muck arctic pros which can be overkill when the world isn't frozen and s pair of high, non insulated boots. What do you all wear?

My everyday boot is 5.11 ATAC. Love them.comfortable and lightweight, fairly durable, considering the level of abuse i subject them to.
Hikers are currently Nevados,. Good for the price, but I need to upgrade to Merrills. My problem with most hiking boots is that the mid rise shank always hits me right on the ankle bone and it drives me nuts. I need to find a taller pair.
Need to get new snow boots. My 12 year old Columbia duck boots finally Peshitta the bed.Politicians are like diapers. They both need to be changed often, and for the same reason.Comment

as far as what shoes I wear, if I were to list my faves it would crash the server and cgrutt would get mad at me. Rocky Duty Men's Alpha Force 8" Zipper Boot
I'm on my 3rd pair of them now, and they're almost worn out. Rocky makes the best boots out there for the cost IMHO. The Alpha Force is one of their middle line boots, cost wise. The Eliminators are their best boots (I've owned two pairs of those), but they are $250.00 boots, and I can wear them out in 12-16 months. The Alpha Force's are still water proof, and have a unique right-side-up and upside-down "V" tread pattern. It is THE BEST TRACTION of ANY boot I have EVER owned... PERIOD! I can run flat-out on ice covered pavement when the tread is new and maintain my footing! I love these boots! I like them so much that I talked USMCveteran into buying a pair a couple of years ago!
P.S. I'm a Heavy Framed Guy (5' 10", 280lbs), and it's NORMAL for me to completely wear out the tread on a boot in 12-16 months. I am hard on my footware, and I demand that it performs well.NRA Life MemberComment

I generally wear LL Bean Cresta Hikers http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/14774...trValue_0=Dark Brown&productId=20674 They're a hand made leather boot with a Gore-Tex liner. I've worn them all over the world, from tropical jungles to middle-east desert environments, and they've held up very well. They are a nice looking boot, and I've worn them to formal events. They don't scream out hiking boot, they're more subtle. They're a good all around boot, which fit in urban environments, but they're designed as hiking boots. I also use them for my motorcycle boots, they're that sturdy.
In the summer, when I need a lighter boot, I wear SWAT classic boots: http://www.originalswat.com/us_en/pr...sic-9-tan.html They don't weigh much, and they're not waterproof, though SWAT does make some waterproof models. They provide great ankle protection and they have a good sole.
I generally avoid boots with zippers. If a zipper fails when you're far from civilization you're screwed. I can replace a shoelace with paracord.

I have a pair of Asolo GTX boots and absolutely love them. I'm pissed though, I've had them over 10 years and the rubber is giving up the ghost and I have to replace them. Sticker shock is not fun, but ya gotta pay to play ($230/pair).
