  • If you had a hundred dollars...

...and could only buy a knife what would you buy? Thinking about a ka-bar BK2 but interested in other thoughts.

Use would be heavy duty chopping plus a stout, sharp point.

Designer knives cost a LOT more than $100.

Chopping you say?? A knife you say?? I haven't really seen a truly versatile knife that can handle chopping and still be called a knife. I'm also not an all knowledgeable blade person either, but the above would absolutely be, and is, my choice for something that chops well.

I would probably buy a simple yet nice Muela hunting knife.

Some sort of fixed blade Bush craft knife would be my choice. Knifes of Alaska Bush Camp is right about $100 and made in USA. No experience with it but have seen good reviews.

you bet. I am saving for the damascus folding one...
I always like the antlers grip for whatever reason. I guess it reflects on the type of use but also last
                  forever.

or what about an aitor oso negro (black bear).... same thing they issue to the COEs (Special operations like the rangers here)
very sharp and virtually indestructible. ... or even the navy seals one also proven in the hardest conditions. not sure the price though.

same thing civilian version. how much is 99 euros?
