Building EMCOMM box?

Thinking of making an emergency communication box but not sure how I would build chassis or face plate for it.

Here are some examples of ones people have made.

I would like more connectors then those shown as well.

Any thoughts or ideas on how to build chassis and face plate or any other ideas or thoughts?

Ammo can or maybe Pelican case? Sheet metal or maybe ABS for face plate?

This is parts list for the arguably nicer looking one. Haven't looked at price of components yet though.
