Radio works, thanks USMC!!!

Checked into my first "net" conversation tonight that my HAM club has every Wed. night through a local repeater. I live in a fairly mountainous area and told them I was using a 5W handheld. They said I was coming in loud and clear and were surprised because they have had trouble in the past checking in from my area on the same radio, so at least I know the radio works. Thanks USMC!!!! Used my "call" sign for first time and pretty much told everyone that it was my first time on air and I just wanted to check in and say hi and sit back and learn protocol, so didn't participate much but listened for about 45 minutes. Could only hear half of the conversations sometimes. But it's a start. A lot to learn and think about some better equipment in the future...

Congrats! Glad it worked well for you tonight . What's really cool about that radio is it's frequency range.... You can also listen to emergency services and the FRS / gmrs frequencies!
