LOL .. Tomorrow in the yard with a junk spoon lure with the treble hooks removed!!! Learning curve commencing in T-minus 12 hours. He'll get the hang of it pretty quick I'm sure.

Good tips here and he has been watching a bunch of vids. I am sure he will have it spooled up and on his Ugly Stick first thing tomorrow. Pics to come.

Well lets say its going to take some practice with the baitcaster. Only one backlash though. I knew he would have to go and try it out. Nothing biting today. My son said thanks Chicken.

That's cause you're fishing in a retention tank at the water treatment plant! Get the kid out somewhere there is shoreline, and weeds, and fish.

            I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

It was spur of the moment he wanted to get a few casts in. We have another spot where we usually go and get some huge bass, its a boat rental spot with lots of weeds and good fishing. I agree the canal is not ideal. lol We were only out about an hour.

He's very welcome!! Now .... get him a baicasting rod. That one appears to be a spinning rod based on the size of the eyelets. Also, one bit of advice I would give is don't try to force the cast. I've found with baitcasters the motion to cast is very relaxed and the casting is much easier than with a spinning reel. Also, It's easier to learn to cast a baitcaster if it's thrown from the side rather than from over the head .... at least when first starting out. If he only had one backlash, then he's already doing better than I did starting out!! LMAO
