Coming back from Ranger game on train to Trenton NJ out of Penn Station. Guy comes on with the sad story. Normally I just ignore these guys but something about him made me call him over. I asked how much he needed. He said $23.75. I reached in my pocket and gave him $24 and said Happy Thanksgiving. He shook my had and said something to the effect of God bless you sir. Hope he used it to get home and not to put a needle in his arm. He left the train right away and I could here people talking about what a sucker I was. I looked over to my boy and said you do what you can to help others out when you can. He said yes dad. Worth all the while right there. My wife just rolled her eyes, lol...

Nice job C! Hope he used it to get home. I can be tough giving people money that need help because there are sooo many drug addicts and con artists
Some times the people can be very convincing. Last time I remeber getting worked, I was going into a Wilson Farms and there was an old guy giving the "sir could you spare some change so I can eat?". So I said hold on. Went inside got some stuff for me and bought him a turkey sandwich. Went outside and gave him the sandwich. He said thanks and then as I was about 25 yards away I turn around to see him throwing it in the garbage. I was pissed! I ran back there and told him I didn't ever want to see him again in front of that store. Never saw him again but those kind of people piss me off and ruin it for the people that actually do need help."I see Nuthhink..... I know nuthink!!!!!"
I still have problems.

Very nice of you Cgrutt,There is nothing to say that you did or did not do what you thought was right thing, being the guy we all know you our and that is being very generous guy who is helping someone out.
Who is to say if the guy was crack pot or not you will never know unless you ever run into this guy again..
I really hope he used the money also to get home..
ClarenceI could probably could get away with a 52 inch shaft but if I could get a 54 inch shaft that would be great as I could always adjust the length of the shaft

Nice move C.
I gave 20.00to a woman holding a sign at the exit of local mall. Said "family needs help". Don't see this much in my area. Figured she was either really desperate or had no conscience at all. I did say no alcohol or cigarettes.
I may have been fooled but the money won't change the course of my life.

Nice job C!
Day before thanksgiving I saw a little girl in Walmart admiring a Frozen doll and her mother was behind me in line talking to another lady saying she only had 30 bucks with her to get what she needed for Turkey Day. The little girl asked her mother if she could have the doll and of course mommy said sorry honey I don't have enough money. The little girl said OK Mommy and then stood there not mentioning the doll again. I walked past the doll on the way out and quickly figured out that 20 buck would cover the doll and the taxes. I walked back to the counter handed the little girl a 20 and said Merry Christmas. She was very excited and jumping up and down, saying thank you, thank you.......
The week before that one of the guys at the Stuart's shop I front of me forgot his wallet in the car, so he ran out to get it, by the time he got back in I had paid for his breakfast sandwich and was walking out the door.
It is nice to be able to be kind to people. I am just grateful that I can be kind to strangers every now and then.

My wife and I went out to breakfast Friday morning after dropping the boys off at daycare. While we were eating, and older man came in and sat down by himself with his kindle.
After we got our check, my wife texted me telling me she wanted to pay his bill too. Of course I said yes.
I kind of wish we could have stuck around to see his reaction, but that's not really the important part.Old enough to know better, still too young to care

Nice going C. Whether or not the guy uses the money to get home is irrelevant. Set a nice example for your boy.
I no longer give money to folks like that as I got burned years ago. Similar situation in Grand Central a guy asked for $ to get home. I have it to him. Couple days later same guy asks me again for $ to get home. Told him it seems you have trouble getting home all the time. He smiled and said "I'm a pretty good scammer right?" I have bought food for folks who said they were hungry but no cash donations since.Ok I can go a couple ways

Iv been known to give money to 'homeless'. i always ask what they want money for. Half the time its for a sandwich or bus money. To be honest, i'd still give them money even if they were honest and said Heroin, alcohol or crack. I can spare a dollar to make someones life not miserable even if its just to get high.
