After running a forum and game servers, VoIP servers team, etc, for YEARS. I kinda only use forums for information and news. I am Leary of posting anything over there because it is such a popular 2a forum. I have a sneaky suspicion that it is true a bunch of anti folk read up on how we think and views and look to divide a house. The RINO equivalent to p2a folk. I really liked some folk, though I didn't post much and avoided the horse hockey that transpired. I don't bother and now I know this site I will visit here. I really am looking for more the anti bubba, redneck site. I don't care about sponsors, we ran our forum for the cost of web space 150 a year and URL for 20. So I don't get why they (the other site) is so worried about sponsors. For 200 a year seriously the 3 billion members they have can cover that in donations and special things. Charge .50 to sell something. Gee it's better then craigslist and cheaper then the paper.
I think seriously if taken in the right direction, a little make over, and some good old fashion marketing you will have a great site. Just keep it fun, not all serious and up tight. That's one thing I HATE about gun people. I take my rifle out and PLAY with it. It's not a nuke, I blow Peshitta up at the range, I follow most of the gun rules, but I don't handle it like its a 100 ton war head. Same with motorcycles god I want to kick over a guys bike when I see a towel on the seat so the sun don't hit it. I guess I'm too much of a true bubba I don't fear them like some. Oh boy here I go all ADD.... Squirrel!
