There is nothing to a name. with enough marketing we can make up one right away. yahoo, aha, google, pixter, azzbook, .... they mean nothing w/o the dollars behind and the brand intelligence and consistent marketing.

For a site I would go simple, something that conveys an idea or something and that appeals and attracts vs. repelling.
Forget about what we like personally and concentrate in what carries along with the vision and the other changes that will be coming.
some specialization, consistency, and vision, all far more important than the name. but the name could be good, something that is consistent.

These days, UX methodology drives the designs for anything that has to do with the internet.

Mek we came up with something that we think everyone will like and follows most of the points you have been making. Its short. Simple and conveys the vision what we are all about. Jimbo has been kind enough to offer his help and is working up a new logo. Going to reserve name on all the major social media sites as soon as we get the logo (service that does this requires logo for avatars). Want to keep name under wraps until we lock in the SM registrations. Thanks for all of your help!

I am glad. The directives I gave I explained why. Also why the SM is so important. It is all about consistency. Consistency all across and of course have some plan to promote.
I will help with what I can. I know you guys would also help me wiht my blog/forum should I decide to go deeper into the ballistics but I don't have much time right now.
Travelling and doing lots of work to bring home the bacon that is top priority for most of us. Lots of work now that is a good thing.
Once you have the SM going we can talk about a system that allows to propagate posts automatically so you can put videos up and have them automatically replicate all over.
I will give some examples. Also lock up youtube, instagram and pinterest

youtube you have to use it in order to reserve a name. The google system is a lot more involved. They do it because they want to prevent cybersquatters w/o any activity to get them.

I just checked again, the name was already taken. Three videos with the last one posted 4 years ago. I must have missed it yesterday because I could have sworn youtube was available. Almost all of the major SM sites appear to be available though...

So MEK, what do you do in that case? Buy another URL that is similar, have youtube account linked to that URL and then redirect to main URL? Or just use a slightly different name for youtube. I really like this name so don't want to start... UGH...
