Mossberg 500, 20" barrel with a 7 shot tube. Currently on standby with Federal #00 Buck (9 pellet) in the Flight Control Wad. I'm waiting on a backorder of the #1 Buck (15 pellet) with the Flight Control Wad. I had a chance to see in person recently the amazingly tight groups that these rounds put on a target at HD distance. It's outstanding, and far out performs the Remington #00 Buck that I had been using.

Great write up on these rounds at The Box O Truth.

Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

      I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

Nope. Assuming you're talking about light placement? Left index finger operates switch on right side of foregrip.

I want an m4 so bad lol.

I agree stick with shotgun but I also agree with CG on pistol in HD. Pistol is smaller and easier to clear corners in tight spaces then a shotgun.

That said I don't have a shotgun yet and in general a pistol is a secondary weapon.

Now as far as lights on long guns...... If I am a right I want the light on the right side and if lefty I want it on left side . Here is why....... So someone is shooting at you in the dark and has a flashlight, where do you shoot? The light...duh so do I want the light centered over my face or to the side of my face?

I'd be amazed if that flower vase thing precariously balancing in the middle of the hall has never been knocked down by anyone in the family lol

Now that I reread the thread title..even WITH pistols, I'd stick with shotguns as HD especially in a rural area..shooting a prowler in the dark, open rural area is much better with a "turn and shoot" spray of a shotgun vs. the having to aim and lesser stopping power of any handgun..and being I'm the kinda guy that not only thinks any light and scope on any handgun looks absolutely ridiculous and impractical(unless I guess you're in a tournament) I'll be sticking with the blast of a shotgun.

LOL. Funny you should say that. Above pic was taken two years ago. Flower vase was still there until last week when one of my friend's son wacked it with a light saber (and stood there after it was on the floor saying, "what?" as if he didn't realize he hit it). Anyway, broke a leg off the vase, which I tried to glue and managed to glue my fingers together in the process. Now a small Christmas tree has taken its place. Your timing is impeccable, ha, ha...

Please don't tell me you subscribe to the theory that you don't need to actually aim a shotgun. That myth ranks right up there with the sound of the action being racked will cause an intruder to soil himself and run for the hills.

You had better damn well be aiming, especially when that load of flight control buck only makes a 3/4" hole at typical "room" distances.

No of course you got to aim..aim any firearm..BUT..if there's a "bump in the night/heat of the moment" break in, and it's pitch black and nowhere near a light switch..I'd sure as hell be happier with a shotgun that you can pretty much point and fire with 00 and you should be able to buy some time..much different then a pistol in that same kinda scenario where you need to "place" that shot more directly and precisely..that's what I was meaning in my prior post.

As a PS to my couple posts here..Slug is first then 00 because I have no neighbors close to me and have that ability to not be as scared as I would with a traveling Slug as I would be with one of you peeps that have tight housing areas or "city/more urbanish" living quarters..that's all. Just wanted to touch on that so I don't have to read 20posts about Slugs being to powerful or traveling to far out of range..
