  • Colt Files Chapter 11

This is kind of a sad day for the firearms world.

    http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015...11-bankruptcy/

Considering the work our gun salesman in chief has been doing to help out the firearms industry, I can only guess that Colt must have done a lot to bring this upon themselves. Unfortunate.

    It was expected right?
They relied too much on government contracts and in the mean time they lost touch with their live long
    enthusiasts, current markets and reality.
They lacked innovation and were overpriced so dozens of other companies, many small ones, were devouring their market
    share year by year.
It is really sad but hopefully they will come out from this with a new mentality and renewed strategy.
Others will follow the same fate if they don't change their ways like Remington/DPMS/bushmaster (same group).

It is a shame when people demanding tolerance, have no tolerance

I agree I think they relied to much on government contracts and when they lost those they were on downward spiral financially speaking.

In 2014 Remington picked up the M4A1 co-production contract with colt, remington now producing the lions share. Origionally the Army was going to go with HK and the 416 design for the new M4A1 but colts contract said they could not loose to a foreign manufacturer, so the Army went with Remington and the USMC adopted the 416 as the M27.

This is not new to Colt. If my memory serves me this happened about 25 or so yrs. ago. Just a little re-organization, again...

Enough money was stripped out of the organization so now it's time to peddle it in pieces or whole. I'm sure some wealthy towel head would

          love to own it...
