So, in the words of Pink Floyd, Is there anybody out there?

What do we need to do to keep things interesting around here? Seriously. I think we've got a great opportunity here to make this an awesome, informative, fun site but it just seems we're not getting any traction. Anybody else feel that way? Bunch of good peeps here ready to get things going. Let's start her up and let her rip!

I haven't been on as much as I have been in the past because it seems I'm always busy!! ARGH!! I've been trying to make time to go shooting with wildman and that ain't working out so good either!! I'm gonna try making a few changes and try to make the time to be here more with the rest of the good peeps!! I was in a life or death situation today so that took some time away as well. Never take an ATV into 4' of snow. Never a good idea. Thought I'd be there until this evening as I waited for the snow to re-freeze but luckily I managed to get the 700lb ATV to sort of float on top of the snow long enough to get back home!! OK .... so I was about 800' from the house, but I wasn't walking in the stuff!! I only had sneakers and no socks on damnit!! Not only that, but ... 800'??? I ain't walking that far man!!

More bodies are needed. Everyone is busy as hell. To keep the threads jumping you need enough members so that the changing (and small) percentage that can post at any given time is enough to keep up a fast pulse. The dark place has done this by allowing Mayhem. And I don't mean that in a good way. You can't spend much time there without wanting to cut your wrists afterwards. I wasn't a member there until I heard about SAFE, but I lurked there occasionally for many years usually looking for matter of fact info. I looked up to many of the old posts as authoritarian. It seemed like reliable info from good and knowledgeable people, who thought the way I did, but knew more than I did. Now I see it as a ***** fest. Most of the posts are technically inaccurate from people who just say repeat the Peshitta they've heard. The rest are *****ing to the choir. I am guilty of doing it myself. But, I am learning...

I'd recommend we make our site something different. Most folks end up at a new site when they are looking for info. Let's fulfill that need. Let's create threads that provide knowledge and facts to help our brothers in uncertain NY/Gun times. There used to be a sticky AW thread at the dark place. Remember that? Where the F is it ? If there was EVER a time to have a factual thread with the "best" we can offer in knowledge, now would be the time. This is an example of how the other place has lost their way. It's also an example of how we can better meet the needs of our gun owning friends.

If we can provide the info and camaraderie that NY gun owners are looking for, they will find us. The Shenanigans will surely come after...

Been there done that with the snowmobiles. Hard to convince your significant other to just let her rip and you'll be fine across the raging river, lol... Glad you made it home safe buddy. More tomorrow.

That pretty much sums up my vision. Now how do we make it reality? Thanks by the way. Great post.

I think we need to do two things primarily. 1 get new people into the shooting sports, 2 have them sign up here to ask questions...... Questions build content and our members have the answers.

I think the first step is identifying the topics most interesting to the average NY gun owner who might find us using a search engine.
I think the next step is discussing the details in a thread unavailable to the general public.
Once the general plan is established, the operational details of what is to be done should be known only by the most trusted of your inner circle. Admins, Mods, close friends, etc.

Sorry to sound overly security conscious. But, it will be a lot of work to create what is needed. To give that away publicly to competitors is just silly.

Posts about guns should outweigh posts about mischief and mayhem.

Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

                  I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

Gun related things need to be WAY more frequent for sure.

If you remember my AK build thread from a few weeks ago, i had actually thought about which forum to post it on. I knew there would be alot more discussion, QnA , and tips on the other forum, but i decided to post it here in hopes of attracting some traffic for this site.

I agree that more conversations about shooting, guns, ranges, maybe reloading, and true legislative info might bring in more folks. Some hunting and fishing reports never hurt either. I found the site through a google search, others will too, and might stay if they see content they can relate to.

While I get what you all are saying about the gun posts, and while I agree that's what brings new people in, it's a tall order for some of us. I can't afford to be buying new guns, and (knock wood) mine are working fine and I'm having no trouble. Not much to post about for me, other than unrelated stuff, and there's a strong-ish feeling that those aren't welcome.
