Just wanted to give you guys a quick update on some of the changes taking place over the last couple of days. We've been experimenting with a few different types of ads and other mechanisms that will start to generate some revenue to offset costs of running site.
The familiar names in the banner at top of site are ads for our very own vendor site sponsors and fellow members that have businesses. As most of you know, we started the forum on whim and offered a "free for first year" section in the Getting Down to Business section to our friends with businesses who would like to advertise on the forum. The banner ads are step two and we are still working through kinks and thinking about different ways to develop a platform that will be helpful to our site sponsors going forward. While the site doesn't make anything by clicking on these advertisements, we encourage everyone to check out the site sponsor's businesses and support them whenever possible.
The banner ads below the site sponsor banner are links to gun related businesses placed there by a third party who we have subscribed to. These are "pay for click" ads where the site earns a small fee when users click on the links. It's just a few cents per click. We encourage everyone to check out some of the sites every now and then and support these businesses when you can.
Finally, I'm pleased to announce that the site was just approved today by Google for their ad-sense program. These are also pay-for-click ads but are more sophisticated than the prior methods above as the ads should adjust to become more relevant to the user community based upon the content that we develop on the site. Again, we just make a few cents but every thing helps and we encourage everyone to check out some ads if you see things that interest you.
Appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these issues and iron out any bugs that we may experience.
As always, thanks for your support.
