I think you're over thinking this. I can jold a karma and draw a winner randomly right? So why can't I do a monthly karma in appreciation of members supporting site? Item to be karma'd would be based upon what I can afford to contribute which is partially determined by how well the business peformed. Only members in good standing would be eligible to be entered and no contribution would be required. Any contributions made would be at members discretion with no expectation of receiving anything in return. Karma would be posted as all other karmas are and all members would be eligible to say whether they are in or not. Cost of karmas would be site promotion. I don't see a problem with this structure. It would also be a few dollars up to maybe several hundred but nowhere near $5,000. We should get legal opinion.

Would have to look into sweepstakes laws in NYS .
"Sweepstakes" means any game, advertising scheme or plan, or other promotion, which, with or without payment of any consideration, a person may enter to win or become eligible to receive any prize, the determination of which is based upon chance. So I am thinking there is a lot of "it depends" involved. Can't find too much on Sweepstakes other then same thing with over $5,000.00 certain things need to be done. I agree a legal opinion on how to do this without making it an ordeal would be best.

I'm pretty sure when I went looking through the laws that there was indeed something about a profit percentage and a payout (prize) value. We met neither in our little raffle. Hell .... gun clubs and motorcycle clubs do raffles all the time. Some for charity and some that are to raise funds for whomever is putting it on. Just do it!! (Where the hell .... oh **** ....here .... SWOOSH!! I couldn't find the Nike swoosh symbol thingy)

Good guess you got everything correct especially no more health problems with my back or health in general..Oh by the way I am having surgery January 5th on my right ear,which is another thing that has been giving me problems..

More then anything is to have a get together with everyone up in Saratoga Springs and a day where we can go fishing..

You got that right that is for sure,I do know sometime soon I just want to make a trip up to Saratoga Springs to visit CS or anyone who is in the area,I just want to get away from here as I am going stir crazy being stuck here,I would love to go up that way during the 24th to the 26th so I will not have to deal with the landlords and there daughter and who is paying for Xmas supper...

But I do not want to intrude on someone else Christmas time so maybe I just go out and eat a nice steak if anything is open around me at that time..
