  • Throwing this out there - monthly raffle

Just thinking outloud and trying to drum up membership and participation. What do you think about a monthly raffle. To start out 100 tickets at $5 equals $500. Winner drawn randomly for say a $350 - $400 rifle to be transferred by a site sponsor. $100-$150 goes to forum to help offset costs. Been having some service issues with our host and looking to take this to next level. Figured this might be a fun way to raise some money and give away some decent stuff to members for small investment. Let me know what you think. Open to all ideas. Thanks.

I think it's a ****ing awesome idea! I would love the chance to buy tickets for a monthly gun raffle (I want a .308 bolt in a bad way). Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, etc. Rifles, shotguns, uppers, lowers, ammo, gear.......hell yeah!

Perhaps give a site sponser(s) a "premium" advertising deal here in exchange for guns/gear at close to cost?
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

    I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

I like it, is there any legal implications to running a raffle?

Yeah, thought about that. I've got to check. We're not a non-profit so assuming we'd have to charge sales tax on value received. We'd cover that. Not sure if we'd have to report "income" to recipient on a 1099 but assuming we keep it under $600 value that should not be an issue. Any transfers of firearms would need to go through FFL like any other. Like I said, just throwing an idea out there not sure if it works or not. First step is seeing if there is any interest. Appreciate your input. Thanks.

That's one thing going to be looked into, have to see what implications for LLC and winner will be. Hopefully its a go, I love the idea too!

Not trying to be a party pooper C, but you may want to check into the legalities of holding raffles.

Definitely needs more research into what it takes or permits needed, here is general stuff on it http://www.gaming.ny.gov/charitableg...ffle_guide.php

Sounds like a great idea but like what was mentioned, definitely check into the legalities first..

                  Clarence
I could probably could get away with a 52 inch shaft but if I could get a 54 inch shaft that would be great as I could always adjust the length of the shaft

Yes sir! We're running this straight up. Will definitely check it out before doing anything. Funny thing is I could give a Karma right now an there is no issue, right? I think it comes down to taxes but will definitely get a legal opinion before we run anything. Appreciate the input.

I'm down. There will definitely be some red tape as far as taxes for you to work out C. No need to bring more heat than NY already applies on a daily basis.
