  • New cartrige exclusive for NYSH forum...

I have a wildcat that I want to make as a unique and exclusive project for this forum.
    Here are the directives:

It must use cheap plentiful brass.
It must be easy to make from that brass.
It must give a superior advantage in some area.
    It must be compact.
It must use standard actions and bolts like the mini, ar, ak, AI... etc,
It must fit in compact magazines like mini, AR, ak, AI, etc...
It must be affordable to load for practice.
It must be fun to shoot.

    Let me know your suggestions.

Normally I start the caliber with two parameters good bullets and accuracy. Also among those bullets one must have value packs for affordable practice.
So I honed into two departments.

    22Caliber

    35 caliber

For the 22 caliber I was thinking something like the 5.7 but using a popular pistol case as donor. the tokarev could be that one but right now are not that
accessible so we can do somethign with the plentiful 22 cases. The thing is we have already some good ones that we could look into w/o new development.

The other one is a 35 using either a 308 case or a 223 case. The 308 has an advantage but it requires special bolts and extensions so that would make
it difficult. I would have to see if a rebated rim would do it but then we run into bolt thurst issues. I could make it work I just want to make sure is easy for
    everyone.

The other one would be a 35 based on a 223 case. This willl have to be straight and no longer than 1.7 inches. This will allow to shoot popular pistol
rounds at AR15 speeds. Think of it like a 30 carbine on steroids.

I have to do more thinking.. Any suggestions?

What about a 30 carbine necked down to a 22? Have a 22 cal barrel made for a 30 carbine.
They can't stop us let them try. For heavy metal we will die!!!

Snowflakes are great!!! You can roll them around into a giant mass and shove a carrot in their ........

That is already a wildcat for the 30 carbine. It is called the 22 spitfire.

The main issue is bolts due to the small bolt face. So any derived from the 223 would make it easier.
Of course unless it is done for the 30 carbine. The fireball could be used too.I guess I would like to create something really new.

I know you said 22 or 35 but staying with the 30 carbine what about a 17 cal neck down?

.17 bullets are great for rimfire or air carbines and not much more.

Here is true nuclear power on a compact package....

I am looking at the 223case and the 357maximum and going humm..... I just need to add a 1 degree taper that is easy after the chamber job.
              Easy to convert too too.

So what do you guys think about about a Mini or AR carbine for example that can toss 180gr bullets at 2300fps, 158gr bullets at 2600fps or
              115gr bullets at 3000 fps.

              158gr 357 .22 G1. Ballistics Results
RANGE(YARDS) VELOCITY(FPS) ENERGY(FT.-LB.) TRAJECTORY(IN) COME UP IN MOA COME UP IN MILS WIND DRIFT(IN) WIND DRIFT IN MOA WIND DRIFT IN MILS
              Muzzle 2650 2464 -1.5 0 0 0 0 0
              100 2268 1804 0 0 0 1.7 1.6 0.5
              200 1919 1292 -5.3 2.6 0.7 7.1 3.4 1
              300 1607 906 -20.2 6.4 1.9 17.2 5.5 1.6
              400 1343 633 -48.7 11.6 3.4 33.3 8 2.3
              500 1144 459 -96.7 18.5 5.4 56.2 10.7 3.1
M885 next to the 35 SHTF. LOL.

Now think about this in these terms, in short ranges will produce more wounding potential than the 308 winchester.
I will have to see what bullets will be able to widstand the forces and good pistol bullets for rifle practice.
Then at 400-500 yards has the same speed and energy and wounding potential than putting the muzzle of a 357 revolver
against the target and pulling the trigger.

                  Potential issues:

Assure proper head space at all time (Rimless version).
Magazines will need a cut out of the frontal rib. I think some pmag might be ok. some others will need some filing.
But can always use the std mags for 4 to 5 rounds. It should be fine feeding.

I am starting to like this. This would make a nice 357 "BACK-OUT" rifle. LOL. ...say no to puzzy rounds. LOL

We have so many already! lol but where is the fun. I like the 270 or 7mm but do not discard the 6.5 or 30cal.
Just to give you an idea my math says the 6.8/270 hornady 110gr would do 3000fps!! on a 22" barrel. LOL.

That is smashing power for anything that moves around here.
