  • NRA Basic Range Safety Officer

More training associated with my goals for Boy Scouts... Want to become certified as a Shooting Sports Instructor in one or more BSA disciplines (i.e., Rifle, Shotgun and/or Muzzle Loader). First step is NRA Range Safety Officer. Just signed up for local class this Tuesday. Our Troop already has several adult leaders who are certified in various Shooting Sports activities but figured more is better in the event of future retirements or just to have back-ups. We have range time booked for the November camp out and I'm hoping to be able to put RSO credentials to good use even though I will not have completed the instructor training at that time. More info about NRA RSO here: https://rso.nra.org/

      Great class, you'll enjoy it.
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

      I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

That was how I started, RSO first about 5 years ago. Then NRA basic rifle and basic pistol instructor! I take any class that I can, even took the trapper course a few years back. Had no intention of Trapping but wanted to know about it!

So took class today. It was just one-on-one with instructor so it went faster than usual. Great class and would highly recommend to anybody involved with shooting. Instructor was former NYPD officer who now runs NRA and other training full time. Great guy and made the class very easy to understand as well as enjoyable. Might take shooting instructor and/or home security with him in the future. He said I was his first student that ever scored 100% on the open book test, LOL. Just waiting for NRA to update the website so I can complete credentialing process. If anybody has any questions about class I'd be happy to go into more details.

            Congrats!

Sounds like you gleaned a boatload of info in a one on one session. Nice!

Congrats. I did the course last year and basic pistol the year prior. Chief RSO next for me and prob basic rifle or shotgun. I've done a fair amount of safety training including range time for friends and family but have yet to formalize anything beyond setting up a biz so I could RSO for Al at one of his fun shoots.
Ok I can go a couple ways

Just completed my RSO class today.
Was interested to see that 3 of 9 participants were doing this class so they could shoot with boy scouts.
