Ironically, the Baretta is the only argument AGAINST slingshot because it's easy to activate the slide-mounted safety when sling shotting that particular pistol (especially with gloves).

I'm with T on this one. I think it's easier to train to slingshot. It became clear (to me) as I was at the range with my wife. She doesn't get out as much as I do so she hasn't developed those rapid tactical/combat type skills (reloading,clearing malfunction,etc). When she picks up a pistol she hunts around for the slide release - no way she could do that fast with an unfamiliar firearm. Slingshot covers every pistol you can pick up.

I only shoot Glocks so when I reload I just give the mag a little extra tap in the ass and the slide magicaly closes all by itself. It's all about training your gun rightShe wants to be your belly gunComment

There is an AR style rifle that closes the slide automatically when a full magazine is inserted. I'm surprised nobody has designed a pistol with the same feature.NRA Life Member

Funny I ask about a pistol that releases the slide automatically, then American Rifleman provides an answer.
The 1934 pocket model Mauser automatically released the slide when a fresh magazine was inserted. I wonder if this functionality isn't common today due to engineering or tactical reasons.Last edited by WARFAB; 11-06-2016, 02:00 PM.NRA Life Member
