  • Shotgun drills?

I plan to take a class , I was wondering if anyone had any shotgun drills they would share? This would be for a semi auto. Could be for stoppages, loading, ect.

    Thanks!

Am I short stroking or going to fast?

Practice loading, lots and lots of loading. You should also practice loading. Did I mention loading? You get the idea.......
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

    I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

You want practice? try Rochester Brooks (about where Rush/Honeyoe Falls/Avon all meet---you are in 'Crotchfester' area, right?).

Each month they do a pistol match, and after each they will either do a smaller side match of rifle or shotgun. The shotgun stage usually entails hitting an insane amount of steel.....say 15-18 pcs. There will be shooters with REAL 3 Gun rigs, like the meter-long speed loader tubes that put 10 shells in the shotgun as easy as a glock mag change etc....but it puts things into perspective, and the time at the end is the metric.

It is the end of the season, and things are winding down

This. Load the tube. Load the chamber. Load shells facing the right way. Load shells facing the wrong way. Load with your strong hand. Load with your weak hand. Obviously you should buy snap caps for any at-home practice.

Loading is like shooting... slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

Best to learn to do it by feel, not sight. Watch the TV and load/unload. Pisses my mrs right off.

I had a chat with BulletGuy recently about the 3Gun event he runs. He suggested practicing loading 2 shells at a time to improve speed. You can stack them on the kitchen counter and grab 2 at a time. If you haven't watched those 3Gun guys on YouTube reloading I recommend watching a couple videos - it's amazing.
Ok I can go a couple ways

I already learned one thing.... Shells are upside down in my picture and need to be reversed and doing so already helped my reloading. IMG_20161004_003347.jpg

I put them primers up. Maybe because I'm lefty but that's what works for me. Maybe it's like the 9mm vs. 45 debate.

eta - loading the chamber or the tube?

usmcveteran when you served did you ever take apart and re-assemble your weapon blindfolded? I know the guy in the commercial but it is a good way to get the feel of the weapon in the dark and, bring you into line when it is dark and bad guys are around..... PS that is what my wife (wife just removes her glasses), 17 yr old and I do once a month.

That is to load both chamber and tube.

No we never did it blindfolded and it's been so long I don't even remember how to disassemble it and will have to look it up and practice.

I must have been in the Army before you were in the Marines.... It isn't about the assembly but more about being calm while do so which will help with reloading in a tense situation. All the weapons in the home are loaded and, unlike some my family including both daughters have been schooled on the facts that firearms are not toys and should not be touched unless a parent / adult is involved. The point of worrying about one of the children misusing one of the weapons has long since past. The practice with them is like a game who can do it quickest and safely. The youngest generally does it better as she does NOT frustrate as easily.
