There are lots of people that are legally blind that own and use firearms. If they even mention your disability they are opening themselves up to getting the Peshitta sued out them! I have only heard great things about MDTS.

I took this one with RPD before I got my permit, you get a nice certificate to hand in with your PP application. Dave runs a good program but it may be a bit out of the way for you.
http://www.safeinrochester.com/courses.php?id=20Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own
I have to bend over too far
I get a boner.
bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!
I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

LMAO TH. Jimbo, you learn how to operate a shotgun for self defense/home protection. Pump or semi-auto depending on what you got. Fairly intense course but worth it IMO.
Chris generally spends a fair amount of time on mindset, applicable law and clearing malfunctions as well. In the shotgun class he teaches you how to hold the gun in a tactical position (ie., stock is placed more centerline of chest than shoulder and you hold it as if you were holding a bow (push/pull). You learn a few ways to load/reload the gun. Shoot strong hand and off hand positions. All while being stressed, LOL.
Definitely a great class. If he comes back to New Paltz I'll try to take it with you schedule permitting. I definitely want to take it again.

Ok, I could see myself giving MDTS a lot of money, lol! Lots of practical self defense classes with or without firearms! The shotgun class looks freakin sweet! No lie on the amount of ammo CG!! 250 bird shot, 25 buck and 15 slugs...wow!
There's a company around here called MB Firearms Training that seems to offer classes fairly regularly but looks like they fill quick.I could be wrong...it's happened before and it'll happen again.

Here's the training folks close to the house. Anyone had experience with them?

Never heard of them before but looks like they have a good program. It looks like you can take NRA basic pistol classroom portion with them and do the live fire portion after you have your permit (based on quick read of their policies).Originally posted by Jimbo_79 View PostHere's the training folks close to the house. How to look cool while blowing the Peshilta out of stuff with a shotty.
going to the range will be the one and only way to practice and retain muscle memories ...

Hey Jumb,
1st off this here permit is a right..not a drivers license, the required paperwork,NRA live fire and money order is all needed. I've had my permit transferred through Dutchess when I lived there and found them pretty pleasant and not to ball busty..BUT..If you really feel you need, why not send in proof of your career and how you mentioned you shiot and edit video perfectly (besides hailing from the Wild Wild West of Texas might help lol)...

For those of us that get to the range once every six months or so, I feel taking a class such as MDTS's is far better teaching you skills that may be required one day to overcome a threat than standing behind a bench and punching holes in a paper target. I also think its good for those who happen to make it to the range every week. Just saying...Originally posted by 4eXcalibur View Post

I've heard the Dutchess folks are pretty laid back as well. Last I heard they only issue premesis or full carry and if you don't get a full carry right off the bat you did something stupid. Yes, I plan on going for the full carry. The vision thing may not even come up at all but life experience has taught me to be prepared to answer questions about it. Doesn't bother me at all but like I said, just being prepared.Originally posted by 4eXcalibur View PostHey Jumb,

Understandable, but a 200$ class taken years ago or months ago then taken again just doesn't sit well with my economic frugality and thought process, When I was about to buy my first "new" car back in 1997 I bought Hyundai when they came out, people said "garbage I was cheap"..12 years 200k later all I did was change tires and brakes while passing broken down Toyotas and BMWs, fords and whatever else daily..now people will rant and rave of the greatness of them..when peeps paid 100$ for a pair of flip flops to my 10$, I laughed when they complained about stitching coming loose, when people flocked to by Zcavarichis for 120$ I didn't.. I am not what you call cheap but I will use my brain when it all it comes down certain things, because I have watched the world scam good people for to long for equal products, cotton is cotton, leather is leather (yea yea..egyptian this and blah blah..more lies that have been fed to you by the big advertising business $ grabbers) .. It happens everyday with fools that would buy name brand pharmaceuticals over generics..just read ingredients, if they are identical then they are identical..170$ or 15$ hmmm..but this is just my opinion. No disrespect to any class offerers or takers, but a class of any kind like the kind mentioned here, can all be watched on YouTube for free and rewound again and again, and yet it still will not be retained as live, real shooting at a range or wherever would be. As anything in life, practice makes perfect, be it loading, shooting, aiming or working on your firearms..boils down to "Pavlov's Dog Theory" (from my marketing career days) all of that done consistently and constantly will make you do what's needed when needed. Someone kicks the door in at 2am threatening my childs life, I sure as hell will have the muscle memory and brain wiring to react a certain way due to repetition and practice..It won't be from a class taken in 2009 with 17 other people and an excel sheet certificate and then taken again cause I don't really remember.. but again, we all will have our own opinions and I respect everyone elses, this is just mine.Originally posted by Cgrutt View Post
