    2015 Appleseed Events

    September 19-20 are the dates for the Appleseed event at Ontario Rod and Gun Club, I can't wait! Anybody interested in joining me?

    Here's the link to the Appleseed schedule, I've never been to one but have heard nothing but good things. It's only $60 for the weekend, pretty damn cheap for 2 days of marksmanship training.

      I have shot the Appleseed program and am now a IIT( Instructor in training) It is a Revolutionary War History (Lexington and Concord) and Marksmanship class! A lot to do about how the American colonists were better marksman then the British regulars! The shooting is done at 25 meter's Standing, Sitting or kneeling, and prone at the AQT (Army Qualifying Target) with each position the target size is reduced to assimilate a 20" target at 100/200/300, and 400 yards, With 40rds in 4 minutes. You will learn sighting your rifle open/scope, trigger control, using a sling, respiratory pause and much more!! It is not a competition but what you learn can help you it other disciplines of shooting! A semi-auto 22 with at least 4 mags is the most common rifle on the line but I have been seeing a lot more bolt-actions(that's why I bought a Ruger American 22) It can be done with a tube fed rifle, But it use's a lot of time up!         Sounds like a good time. I've added a tentative entry to the calendar to check in on it when the time gets closer.

                  I think the FAQ's say they are shooting a reduced course of fire, 200-300 rounds. Centerfire rifles are fine too, got one of those black rifles? I'll let you borrow an SKS if you want to shoot it, you can pick up 300 rounds 7.62x39 at Wallyworld for $75.

                    My black rifles are in North Carolina because they cannot be converted at all. I have two .22 and a 8mm Mauser. I want to go, my friend has been an instructor for a long long time in va. Wish he would come up here and teach.
