  • Tuesday Night Concealed Carry Shoot

    Hello all:

The Tuesday Night Concealed Carry Shoot is run by Rochester Defensive Pistol Associates, LLC. The entity was started many years ago by Stu Jenkins. In one form or another, the basis of the current version of the shoot has been the longest running weekly event in the Rochester area and at the Genesee Conservation League (GCL). I am the Assistant Range Master for the event and the Founder/Primary Instructor for Rochester Personal Defense, LLC. Western NY's standout training and educational company for self defense and firearms. The Tuesday CCW Shoot, in it's current form, has evolved into a great event where both new shooters and experienced shooters can attend and practice, learn, and gather with other shooters. The atmosphere is casual and easy to walk into as every shooter there is ready to accept new people all the time - and we do almost every week!

Utilizing photo realistic targets, we afford the participant the chance to immerse themselves into a stage or scenario where they will get the chance to practice drawing, reloading, malfunction clearing, movement, target ID and judgement, scanning, environmental awareness, and more. All in a safe and reliable method!

The squads are maxed out at 12 (6 per group, per squad) and run every 45 minutes. The first squad goes off at 4 and the last one is at 700pm. The cost is only 10.00 for one run (both stages) and an additional 5.00 for a second run if there is room. Your first night is free (of course we have to get you hooked, right?).

To register to attend, go to www.defensivepistol.net and set up your new user ID. Once approved, you can register for a squad time. For your first night, you'll need to arrive about 15 minutes earlier than your squad time for your orientation.

What equipment do you need to bring? It's easy, nothing special. Eye and ear protection (make sure you are wearing these before you enter the range), Your defensive handgun (in a holster or case), 100 rounds of ammo, a magazine holder or someplace to secure them, an extra magazine or two, and an open mind- ready to have fun!

Feel free to contact me directly for any questions at the info listed below. Good luck, good shooting!

I wonder if we have enough Rochester Shengunners to fill a squad? I keep saying I want to do this but its hard to escape at night with the two little meatheads needing baths and bedtime snuggles.

I'm in the same boat Ray. I managed to get there once over the summer while the wife and kids were out of town. It was a blast, and I really want to do it more often, but have something to do with/for the kiddos nearly every night of the week. If we plan it a couple weeks in advance it should work nicely. I know that thughes would be in as well.

It's not the evening that's the problem, it's our wives.

I should really do this some time. Gotta practice reloads with the wheelgun. Should probably practice shooting it too.

I've enjoyed most of the nights I have gone to Tuesday night shoots. except for the ol' plastic gun bashing know-it-alls that run their custom 1911s and talk Peshitta, but that's how it often goes at the range. Regardless, I will continue to attend when I can. It's beneficial on many levels and is fun too!

for what it's worth, to those that want to go to gcl and can't make tuesday nights work: uspsa on wednesday nights is only 8 bucks and has more targets in each stage to shoot. sure it's not from concealment, but it's active decision making and pistol shooting practice.

Newbs are welcome? My experiences with pistol shooters at the GCL haven't been very pleasant so far. Lots of attitude and rude responses any time I've had an encounter. Not that I've had a lot of encounters so far, but the ones I have had sure didn't make me feel welcome.

I was pleasantly surprised the Tuesday night I stopped into the range. The defensive pistol guys seemed pleasant.
