Primary Arms is by far my most favorite online retailer. It's my first stop shop for anything and everything I may need. I'll happily pay a little extra for a lot of things there as their customer service is unparalleled. Midwayusa.com is 1A.

Just last week I was looking at the Warhammer charging handle on Primary Arms. Should have bought it when I first looked at it. Now they're sold out everywhere.

Do you have plates in that vest?

Did you get any details from the guys at The Firing Pin about whether this event's equipment/gear requirements will be different than listed on the Skirmish site?

Not quite norm but it's not ever setup as a huge load out either, and I'll reduce it for the games too LOL Blowout kit, rifle & pistol mags, chem lights, radio, multitool. Have a small bag that clips on the back for added first aid, water, food etc but honestly haven't really ever run with it. Partly why I'm pumped about this, gets me out actually using some of this, at least now I'm getting out running and gunning a little bit seeing what actually works and doesnt work for me atm

Yeah I keep a pretty decent black Gerber on that vest at all times. But I have a real nice leatherman, probably similar to your Gerber that I take with me hunting, hiking, camping and it has been awesome for me for probably 15 years now. I want to upgrade my "tactical " one to a leatherman MUT or a "multitasker" at some point

No I haven't, I even talked to pat yesterday but totally forgot, never even talked gear for some reason. I'll fb you his training page though, he might end up answering it there before anything goes up TFP, dunno.

I emailed the 2ANYS email address because I was worried about my injured shoulders and that was the email on there. But I got a great reply back fairly fast so that might be a good Avenue too

                So this is Sunday!

They have made it pretty low round count due to the shortage, only 50 rifle / 50 pistol. And apparently no rifle reloads so people can run their fixed mags. Not too pumped about this update at all personally but hopefully more will sign up because of this news.

Good luck big flash . I would have been out of town this weekend, but with the last minute schedule change I wouldn't have been ready anyways.

Be sure to let us know how it goes.

Thanks guys, it was great! It was a good ass kicking for sure but one I needed. I dont know the results (except winners) yet but no matter the score I'm so glad I went and happy with my performance especially with basically a month. And well being a 6'6 300# desk monkey They might try and do one in January too. We got dumped on today and my face is wind burned a little too. Luckily most of the day was dry though. Gonna be sore as hell tomorrow because I'm already not liking stairs LOL
Met some great people too. Always great to see like minded individuals here behind enemy lines.
I'm surI'the all outdoor ones are even better, it was definitely a limiting factor having to shoot indoors, and they only have the one bay. But they made due very well.
I'll write something up about the "battles" we did today soon. Highly recommend joining the next one if you need a good goal like I do to keep you motivated, and a decent gut check.

There were 3 "battles" and there were 5 squads to run them so my squad started with a break. But I'll give you all what we did, the order was different for other squads obviously. Also, the elite division had more weight, and the masters and the women had less.

1st for us was "the trek" We dragged tires with 100# of sand bags around to the far back corner of their property, then switched to carry maybe 4-5' sections of tel poles around building back to the start. Then we had to scoot back and get the tire and drag it back to start around building the same way we took the pole. There is a small hill behind the building too, not big but you could feel it under load for sure. Then we went in and shot both guns from maybe 20 yards.

2nd was called "resupply" the idea was to sort of simulate getting your battle buddy out of harm's way and retrieve some ammo. We had to put 150# duffles over a 4' wall, then move them about 100 yards to another wall. Get them over that. Then carry ammo cans back to start. Then we had to go back and get the duffle bag and bring it back to start. I think the expectation was that we'd carry them but most did a lot of dragging. Some people separated the bags from the duffle but I didn't since that was against the idea, though allowed. Then we shot two pistol mags into a couple target halves, maybe 15 yds. We were supposed to do this all twice but they messed up I guess. That would have sucked.

3rd was the smoker. 10 rifle into tiny targets at 15y. then outside for pullups and pushups (in the mud by this point). Back in for 10 rifle lefty into same targets. Back out for crunches & squats then in to shoot rifle from knee, back into the rain for us to do crunches/ squats (supposed to be pullups/ pushups again but they let us switch since it was a complete downpour and no one else had to do pullups on wet bars). Then back in to shoot 10 more rifle lefty from knee. the shooting for this one was the same 4 targets through the battle and each time we had to fire 1 at the first, 2 at the second, 3 at third and 4 at the fourth.

a couple other things of note, we basically all carried all our ammo for the day on us. 5 mags for each gun.
no guns were loaded outside the range, all were loaded under the supervision of the RO's and were clear before getting off the line in the range. so that was safe with nothing hot outside.
there was no timer involved with shooting, which i understand would have been difficult for them to do and incorporate, but meant that there was really no need for fast draws and quick shooting. I tried to maintain as much "real life combat" mentality so I did not take my time at all. some did, but no one in my squad was slow either, another guy shot idpa/ipsc & uspsa too and you could tell us apart there though it didn't matter for the event. everyone knew their way around their guns but sling manipulations were the obvious problem for all of us. I spent some time trying to get that under control before the day of so it wasn't awful but it's a factor all day long.

I also tried to "run what I got," I really only bought 10/30 mags and a mid-rise drop for the pistol holster I already had. I didn't need the 10/30's, there weren't any rifle mag changes (nor did I see any pinned mag guns but you really could have ran one). so i got to test out what i already own, through training and through the competition. everything worked plenty fine. the biggest thing i tweaked in training was my ear protection. I usually use over the ear, but in a lot of shooting positions with the rifle, it was getting in the way. so I have been running in ear ones.

I ran CATI III+ plates in a condor cheapo plate carrier. no problems at all. i might upgrade to something more streamlined for training under a jacket in the future. I didn't wear this around my neighborhood.

also ran older S&W M&P sport 16" carbine with thordsen stock (gen 2) & a cheap MFT handguard (not freefloating). also a PA micro red dot md-ads (1/3 cowitness with a2 front site) & white streamlight polytac on it. used a VTAC 2-point sling. (no one ran a 1 point) i wanted to put an ambi 45* safety on it because that is difficult ergonomics but glad i didn't yet because it didn't cost me any time. also wish it had a dust cover, i pulled grass out of the chamber at one point. but honestly there was no mag in either so PePePeshittatata can get in there too. probably should have closed the bolt out in the field but never did. it did close on itself once though in the second battle. there were a lot of nice rifles there (and "pistols"), mine was probably among the cheapest but that is the carbine I have. the LEO in my squad was running a low budget build as well but with a can. saw a lot of vortex red dots but a lot of variety there as well. a couple LPVO & some halographics with magnifiers too.

Used my old trusty Glock 22 (40cal) with a streamlight TLR-1 on it. in a safariland mid rise drop. a lot of people were running a leg strap too but I never have.

I used my old double alpha inner/outer belt from my uspsa days, with a variety of plastic mag pouches that I already had, no problems there but i'd love to get something with a cobra buckle eventually and dedicate the rig to range/battle. the gamer belt did fine though. there was a wide range of belts used that I could tell. i was definitely happy i didn't have anything on my lumbar for the crunches though, some people were regretting that!
