Sounds like they're moving the Tuesday night CCW shoots to Canandaigua.

The GCL was really convenient for me. I doubt I'll be able to make it to Canandaigua after work. I wonder how much the crew of attendees is going to change with the new location.

GCL has a new event on every other Tuesday night advertised as a "defensive pistol shoot" but in actuality is an IDPA style event (trigger guard must be behind body centerline, so no appendix carry.....mags must be in mag holders,.so no mags in the back pocket anymore, ......scored by time and placement of 2 rounds on target, so no more thinking about whether to shoot/not shoot/rescuing Uncle Buck/shopping at Walmart/using the ATM scenarios, etc.). I'll give it a try but not real hopeful at the moment......
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

    I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

Any idea what the range fees will be?

Let me know when you're going to attend and I'll see if I can make it. I added some upgrades to the Steyr that I need to try out.

interesting, anyone know who is running the new "defensive pistol shoot" at GCL? is it them running it themselves?

i'm glad RPD's version is going to get resurrected somewhere. too bad it's canandaigua, I was hoping the firing pin in bergen! doubt i'll ever get out to it now.
TFP has plenty of people shooting every night though, so i doubt they could turn them away one night a week like that anwyay.

My impression is that GCL is running it themselves.

The Canandaigua Sportsman Club? Do they have anything indoors?

I swore to never shoot there again, after a buddy nearly shot a kid 'BMX'ing on the 5-Stand trails behind the rifle range. Club seemed to care. or not.

Outdoors, although they do have a nice pistol pit.

                      Um...yeah.

So, it's basically IDPA: 2 on target, score based upon time plus penalty for any shots outside of the Alpha....basically it's a shooting game, not a "assess the threat and then decide whether to shoot or not" training scenario as we used to have with the RPD event.

That said, I am not sure I will be going back. I am an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer and I have to say that the safety awareness shown by these guys literally scared me to the point that I considered leaving:

                      - There were no clear and loud calls of "Range Hot!" or "Range Clear!"

                      - As soon as the shooter fired his last shot and before the RO had completed verifying the shooter's weapon was clear, these guys were already through the door onto the range and headed down to start taping/picking up brass....again....without any clear "Range Clear!" command being given. When one of the old RPD Tuesday night shoot regulars called a few folks out for entering the range before an all clear, she was told "Don't worry about it, we know what we're doing and we're safe...it's how we do it at these matches".

                      - On several occasions, after we finished taping/picking up brass and were headed back up-range to the exit, I heard the "load and make ready" command only to look over and see the next shooter loading his gun WHILE THERE WERE STILL PEOPLE EXITING THE RANGE!

                      - Twice I watched people enter and then exit the range to grab a tape gun or some other activity....while the range was hot and the shooter was shooting the stage.

                      - I observed 3 separate occasions of shooters coming very close to breaking the 180 with no admonition or warning from the RO as well as at least one reload with the muzzle pointed upwards towards the ceiling.

There were a 7 of us from the RPD shoot in attendance last night and to a man (woman) we all stood around with our mouths open, shaking our heads at behavior that would never be tolerated by Dave and his RO's. I really hope these guys get their act together safety-wise and perhaps make the event more "real world" related instead of the current format, I appreciate Roger taking this on and hope that he gets more help from the club. GCL is a convenient place for me to shoot and I like keeping my skills up but at this point I think I'll look into alternatives for a concealed carry type shoot.
