I've had a Mossy 500A for a long time now. It is the first gun I purchased many moons ago. It came with the 18.5 Slugster barrel and while I really like it I don't think it would work for skeet/trap shooting. Am I correct in this assumption? There's a local gun club I'm thinking about trying to join and they have a skeet/trap area so just for fun I started looking around at longer barrels. Looks like brand new their around $150-$200 range. This seems a little high to me but I never really looked before. What would be a good price for a used 24 or 26 inch barrel that I could install some Truglo or Hiviz sights on? Trying to get an idea so I can budget accordingly

I was in the same spot awhile back. If you can find a used barrel for under $100 it makes sense. Otherwise, a brand new 500 with a 28" field barrel can be had for less than $300. Might as well just buy the second gun (that's what I did).Last edited by thughes; 12-31-2015, 03:22 PM.Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own
I have to bend over too far
I get a boner.
bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!
I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

Well, the thought of a new one is tempting for sure! I'd rather learn to work on this one and keep it going. Over Christmas when my brother showed me how to take down and reassemble the SKS I sat at the kitchen table practicing it over and over until I could do it without thinking. I found the inside fascinating and relatively simple. Yesterday watched a video on how to do the same for the Mossy and may try that today. I also need to go back to my LGS and try to become a regular customer, even if it's just buying a box of ammo a week. Was in there a few times but there's no way they remember me since the last time I was in I bought a sling and a few boxes of shells, lol!
....A whole new one is tempting though...I could be wrong...it's happened before and it'll happen again.
