  • Coach Gun

Finally fired my late Grandfathers sawed off 12ga Coach gun. Its a Springfield Arms produced around 1939. I was leery about firing it after it was not shot in over 60 years. The last time my Dad could remember it firing was in the 1950s. My Grandfather owned a car repair shop and this was the under the counter Security System. The gun shot great and kicked like a mule when firing both barrels at one. Fun making melons blow up with it!! Barrels are legal length.

There's just something about a coach gun that's bad ass!
I bought my sons out of state.

Awesome. Did you have it refinished?

Been a while since I've read 265 but what's the law barrel no less than 18" and overall no less than 26"? It looks as if this meets both but is there an exception for C&R? If it were my grandfathers I'd probably have it in a display lol...

      Anyway nice gun. Treasure it.

No it was like this when I got it, it was probably fired only a few times before, there are some imperfections in the stock and a small section with some paint on it that will not come off. The barrels are 18 3/4. I am not sure about C&R exceptions because it meets current legal standards. His machinist in his shop cut it down and did a great job with it, all numbers match and are stamped. I have to fill between the barrels with something as they did not do that when it was cut. I probably will only fire it occasionally but I just had to know if it would fire lol. My son shot it as well for some family history!!

This shotgun is awesome. If is kept oiled and clean it will shoot the same another 100 years from now.
That is a priceless piece. Take good care of it.

Thanks Meke just got done fully cleaning it and oiling it up after shooting it. I have been gun cleaning all night. Took my 4 pistols, 2 22 rifles and the Coach gun to PA last weekend, cleaning 7 guns sucks and its also time for every mag to get cleaned as well. Loaded some 45 tonight as Cabelas has S&B Primers this week for 19.99 per 1,000. I have not seen this price on primers in ages. I have to pick up a couple more thousand on pay day.

Now is a good time to buy for shooting as everyone is buying for fishing, camping, water sports and other chit.

Seems the shooting supplies are getting plentiful at Cabelas, there has even been a ton of 22lr in stock. Maybe the hoarders have got their fill lol.
