  • Low Recoil Home Defense Shotgun?

I was wondering what you all would recommend?

Like the title suggests I am looking for some low recoil shotguns. For example the Benelli M4 I believe it is (M1014 joint service shotgun) would be an amazing (yet expensive) shotgun but I believe that it is illegal here in NYS.

Also do you guys have different recommendations in different price ranges?

    Thanks for your help!

These are the softest shooting that I have used #1 Remington Versamax http://www.remington.com/products/fi...-tactical.aspx #2 Remington 1100 http://www.remington.com/products/fi...-tactical.aspx #3 Benelli M4 http://www.benelliusa.com/m4-tactical-shotgun. I have a Remington 1100 it's not a tactical version but I can shoot 100s of rounds without getting beat up.

Mossberg 500 ... use low recoil ammo and pick the configuration of the 500 platform you like. Some like the 20ga some like the 12ga some like the .410. Whatever you choose, I really don't see alot of reason to spend a ton of money on a gun that's going to do the same thing.

I second the mossberg 500. For lower recoil I would go with a 20 ga. I prefer the 500 over the 870 and here is why.

              1. Better extractor system
              2. Ejector is replaceable at home. 870 has to be sent to Remington to be fixed.
              3. Thumb safety on the back instead of a cross bolt safety by the trigger
              4. Bolt release button is much more accessible. Behind the trigger where you don't have to change your grip to get at while the 870s is in front of trigger.
              5. No loading gate to get in the way while reloading. If you wear gloves the gate can grab your glove.
They can't stop us let them try. For heavy metal we will die!!!

Snowflakes are great!!! You can roll them around into a giant mass and shove a carrot in their ........

My bedside 12 gauge is now a Mossberg 500 Police... For many of the reasons Wildman listed above.

Nice buttpad, low recoil ammo and your golden.

Benelli M4 is perfectly legal in NY. Now why would you say that? Should I bring mine to Utica on Sunday, lol?

Pistol grip isn't a feature on semi shotgun under Safe. Stop spreading misinformation, partner...

Is it a 12g? Or maybe something I can handle?

                          265.22 (b) a semiautomatic shotgun that has at least one of the following characteristics: (i) a folding or telescoping stock; (ii) a thumbhole stock; (iii) a second handgrip or a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand; (iv) a fixed magazine capacity in excess of seven rounds; (v) an ability to accept a detachable magazine;
265.22(g) provided, however, that such term does not include: (iii) a semiautomatic shotgun that cannot hold more than five rounds of ammunition in a fixed or detachable magazine; or
So to summarize, semiauto shotgun with pistol grip is permitted as long as fixed magazine cannot hold more than seven rounds. You can have all "evil" features if the tube doesn't hold more than five rounds. We've been through this before; seems like old times... We need a policy that bad advice get's deleted from these parts... Just saying.
