  • 100 Year Old Shotgun

I've taken it all apart, cleaned, and oiled. Nothing seems obviously wrong with any of the parts, but I still can't get it operating correctly. Time to see if the gunsmith can figure it out.

Sounds like you've given it your best shot, but sometimes, you need a pro to step in. Taking it apart, cleaning, and oiling it was a good move. If there's still something off, handing it over to the gunsmith is the smart play. They've got the know-how to troubleshoot and fix those tricky issues. Here's hoping they can get it back in action for you soon

I now have two of these shotguns. The second one had a cracked stock and some other issues, so I bought a new stock and have gotten it fit well enough that it is usable, but I haven't added any kind of finish to it yet. I also found a source a for a few other small parts. Needed a new firing pin and extractor on the one side.

Having two of them has been a cool way to learn. The lifter spring issue was solved by swapping lifter springs between the two guns. They both now feed correctly. They both still have the slide release issue, but I think I know how to fix that. Just haven't had the time to screw with them any more. Now that all the mostly peaceful protests have died down, I have less time and motivation to work on them.

2024 might get spicy over the next few months, so maybe I'll find new motivation to do more work on them.
