  • Camp Perry Virgins (we will be gentle)

I hear that there are quite a few individuals from the ROC area heading out to the Nationals for their first time. Liberty's Teeth had talked about having some discussion about what noobs should be aware of, after one of his shoots.

    Here are the products:

Below is a link to a Google Map of Camp Perry, locating all the points I thought relevant. Perry itself is small, but each landmark will provide a walk-through tour.

I have tried to attach the PowerPoint files, but the server is rejecting them.....probably on sheer size alone (sez: Invalid?). If you would like a copy, let me know and I will try to email/PM/carrier pigeon it.

Not sure if we can actually attach ppt files or if it is just a size thing. If we can change a setting we'll try to accomodate you.USMC?

Try the paperclip on right to attach as attachment . if that doesn't work I don't think it will. There is a limit to size of photos but not attachments.

This is what I am getting. Could it be the file extension? It is only 3.6MB.

Looks like it doesn't support ppt I'll check one more thing though.

Go ahead and try now, I think I added ppt to list of options.

                Same thing again <<sad face>>

So I Saved As.... an older version (PPT vs the current PPTx) and it now seems to work just fine.

                So, sit back and enjoy.

(enjoy the foray into madness that is HamChu trying to explain a 96 hour trip in 13 slides)

The PPT is the whole file....with the notes window beneath the slide. So try to read it w/o actually running the presentation.

I appreciate the fact that you protected the identities of the participants.

Page 5 - I wasn't aware that you could coordinate squadding so you can share equipment for the vintage rifle matches. For the black rifle matches all squadding is assigned randomly and you have no control over it no matter what kind of sexual favors you offer the registration staff. You might end up shooting at the same time on a completely different range than the people you know, so everyone needs to have their own equipment.

At all the CMP games, you and your team just wait on the line, in the dark, to get your squadding. If you go in a group of 4, you take a whole firing point (FP), and make the nice ladies SO happy. If not, you complicate everything and they break up FPs based upon you number and squeeze you in wherever they have room.

So..here's a funny story on that one....

Knowing this, we plan on one set of gear. The 4 of us will take a whole FP. 2 shoot, 2 pit and then switch.(you & your buddy will spend all day together and never see buddy 3&4 until the match ends) One shooter at a time, rotate through the gear with your own rifle.

When we get there, the really nice lady runnin' thangs says: "If you all wanna all shoot together, we can give you firing order 1 & 2 on adjacent points..."

OH BOY, we never thought we could do THAT! YESYESYES. We will shoot together, next to each other and run pits next to each other...all day camaraderie! <<sigh>>

We get our assignments and gleefully move out to the Ass'y Line behind our two firing points. We take out our one scope, one mat, one stool....and the Idiot Boulder hits us all at the same moment. Err....we now have two simultaneous shooters, and need two sets of crap.

ONLY b/c of my illustrious staff officer experience (mechanized), do I pack twice what we need. We had backups for everything, and me and a buddy haul ass back the 800 yards to the parking lot to get the gear. We made it, they opened the pits about 2 min after we returned, panting. Good thing we had 'plenty of car' to haul it all out there.

(please note, my illustrious staff officer experience (mechanized) failed to foresee this little 'hiccup' at 0630. S-2 Fail

Most of the bullet points on the presentation have some sort of story like that behind it. Just trying to keep ppl from making the same (stupid) errors
