    GCL CMP Match Shout Outs

    Quite the match at GCL this past Saturday as at first shot it was a balmy 3 degrees.
    I want to give a few shout outs;

    Warfab with 468 of 500 and 9X
    THughes with his Swiss Miss shot a 433 of 500 and 1X

    And our big shout out goes to Blackpowdershooter firing an M1 Garand for his first ever formal competition pounded the backstop very well hahaha!!!! Actually BPS fired a very respectable 355 of 500 and 1X.

    Great job shooters, we will see you in February!

    Thanks for the plug CC! I'm sure BPS would have shot much better if he wasn't fighting an ill-tempered rifle. Are those scores posted on the CMP site anywhere?

      Ok, stupid question. What are the requirements for the CMP shoot? I'm a member at GCL, but have never participated, despite knowing that the range is closed every 2nd Saturday morning. And my only C&R eligible is a Mosin.

        What do you mean by requirements? If you've got an rifle that's legal for competition that's a great start, but even that isn't a requirement since the GCL owns some Garands that can be used for competition.

        The rules are basically to shoot a service rifle with iron sights unsupported. A sling is allowed (recommended) for prone and seated. If you've got a shooting mitt I'd recommend using that too. The GCL and/or other shooters will help you get started if you need any equipment or coaching.

          We'll chat Tuesday night dwa. Mosin is eligible but may be a bit tough to get 10 accurate shots off with it in 70 seconds (rapid fire stage). As Warfab replied, just say the word and we can come up with a Garand for you to shoot and a mentor to get you through your first match, these guys are very welcoming to new shooters.

            Sounds simple enough. 10 accurate shots with a Mosin in 70 secs is definitely not gonna happen though.

            I'll catch up with you next week thughes, I'm out of town for work tomorrow, won't make the Tuesday shoot.
