  • CMP Match Rifle Events in 2017

It will be interesting to see how this works out. The scheduling is going to make it hard for guys who shoot the usual CMP matches to attend these matches as well, but I'm not sure how much overlap there is anyways. It's also a chance for NRA competitors to shoot at Camp Perry AND shoot at the NRA championships. For the sake of tradition and the local economy in the Port Clinton area, I hope the CMP is successful.

CAMP PERRY, Ohio – With dates recently becoming available in the opening week of the National Matches schedule, June 26-30, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) will lead off the competitions with CMP Service Rifle and CMP Match Rifle events, called the CMP Cup Matches. Match rifle competitors may participate in the new matches and compete straight up with their peers.

The CMP Cup series of individual and team service and match rifle events includes a 50-shot CMP Four-Man Team Match, three days of 80-shot CMP 800 Aggregate Matches, which may be fired singly or all three culminating in a 2,400-point aggregate and wrapping up with a 50-shot CMP Excellence-in-Competition (EIC) Service Rifle Match.

In the 50-shot team match and 80-shot individual matches sighters will be allowed, no alibis (other than a range alibi), and shooters will start in position. In the CMP Cup EIC Match sighters will not be allowed, no starting in position, and no alibis (other than a range alibi).
I'm not entirely sure what "straight up with their peers" means. With the way the CMP is handling the service rifle rules I fear it means that match rifle and service rifle competitors will be competing for the same trophy.

This was just posted. The new FINAL schedule is going to be different, but CMP focus is now to fill in the gaps that NRA left when they took their ball and went home (to Atterbury). Perhaps there will be another match that might partake in. Sorry, but Match Rifles are DQ'd for Modern Military Service Rifles

yes, as long as it is USGI, as-issued. Those heavy, match barrels are a NOGO, as are the scouts etc... My buddy winning that NY Compliant is also DQ'd. Not so good news.
