  • 22 Stock for the Savage MK II...

Lets put it this way, there is no much to choose from for the MKII w/o going custom (and expensive)
The Midway metal chasis looks good but I have not seen one live. I think no much can go wrong with this so might be worth a try.

That thing looks sweet! Speaking of which if you get a chance do you think you could start a thread on .22 as it relates ballistically to .308? I would really like to get some info on all sorts of long range shooting as well. I know we talked in past about shooter spotter type stuff and I am still interested in learning more.
www.AvidArms.com I'm STIHL out of conditioner!!

Am I short stroking or going to fast?

I have all that information. I Think it would make sense to have a category for ballistics.

I actually had a new 455 precision trainer in the camo manners stock. I bought it a few months ago and sold it recently for a few extra bucks for my boat buy. It was really nice but i'm not sure if it was worth the money besides for the awesome looks.

I bought it as a complete rifle from cz. It's called the precision trainer and you get it at a discount. I did really like the gun...but I like my boat better lol. My 455 varmint shoots just as good for 1/2 the price. I kinda like the wood myself

Theree is nothing any ohter firearm can do that the savage MKII budget cannot do. The only problem is the entry stock that is garbage. And the higher up is
a wood one that i don't like. So for full aluminum not too many options there w/o going custom.

I think the magazines are junk. They never work from the factory and you always gotta tinker with them to get them to work and keep them working. I have been slowly selling all my savages and replacing with cz's. The cost increase of CZ is minimal compared to the savages and you get a much better rifle.

I like the idea of the stock in line in par with the tube guns. not a huge deal for the 22 but then I can adjust ergonomically as other "Salted" weapons.

I read more about the stocks and I think there is nothing to it so I decided I am going to try to machine one.
Of course will be a more simple version but I will documented here as a new project. If everything goes well we will propose options so folks can
try their own versions. The lathe will be necessary but if I can find the tube with the right dimensions maybe not.

A saw is necessary. I think a table saw could be used to cut some aluminum using the proper blade for it. have you guys tried this?

My buddy cuts aluminum on a table saw all the time. You just need the right blade (carbide tipped) and some beeswax or some spray Pledge wax. I'll find out what he uses for a blade.

Thanks. If you can find out what blade that would be great.

Ok saw my buddy today. He uses a 80 tooth, carbide toothed, for non-ferrous metals blade. Hope that helps, and don't forget the beeswax or spray Pledge to keep the blade clean .
